Bosch vs Electrolux vs LG Ovens

Thanks to all the posts I have narrowed my search for double wall ovens to Bosch HBL350UC, LG WD3010ST, and Electrolux EI30EW45KB. They are all priced between 1950 - 2150. Looking for QUIET, basic, oven - don't need bells and whistles. Quality also top of list. Anyone have one of these ovens that can give pro's and con's?

Wow, you can find an elux double oven for $2150 or less! That seems like a great price to me. I have the model with wave-touch controls that fade out when not in use. I'm afraid I don't know what IQ touch controls are, which is what that model has. But the gliding racks in the Elux are great. Self clean works. Very quiet. A fan continues to run after it's turned off, but I only hear it if I walk right past it. Even the convection fan is not loud.

I know people on here like the Bosch, too.

I considered the Bosch and the Elux Wave-Touch versions, single oven with warming drawer. I tossed LG from the mix early on; can't recall why. The Bosch had, IMHO, a slightly retro look and I believe you had to pay extra for the ball bearing racks, whereas Elux included two standard. I settled on the Elux and so far, I love it. Everything about it is quiet and sleek. It pre-heats faster than anything I've ever owned, and the after-fan, as Ginny20 says, is very soft.

The Elux is beloved here at GW -- and for a good reason, I begin to think. That's all I know this early in the game. Good luck.

Earlier this year we changed from a Bosch to a Dacor double wall oven. This required enlarging the oven cabinet both in width and height. The new oven required that the cabinetry opening was 1/2" wider and 3" taller. I spent considerable time trying to decide whether I would encroach downward into the drawer below the oven or modify the cabinet above. In the end, I decided to do the harder work and go upward. It took a few days to properly removing the upper doors, carefully extract the nails and supports holding the upper cabinet shelf in place, and relocating everything. It was a time consuming job. The width was enlarged by routing the front vertical edges which had been made a little narrower than typical because the original Bosch oven was slightly narrower than most wall ovens. I also had to relocate the electrical outlet behind the oven and upgrade the 240V wiring to a larger gauge in order to accommodate the higher current requirements of the Dacor. We then bought new upper cabinet door fronts from the original cabinet maker (Coppes Napanee) which matched the 9 year old cabinets. The end result was great.

We spent quite a while comparing Bosch to Electrolux. The Bosch knobs did not feel good to us, and we found it more awkward to get to the functions we use most. We loved the Electrolux "WaveTouch". Since tastes vary, you really ought to spend some hands on time with both. Even if you can't find somewhere that has them "live", you can at least get a good idea what you think about the Bosch knobs.

Hi bancora, keep in mind that people tend to have their biases. That repair shop may simply be seeing more traffic from people with certain brands, because consumers will recommend repair specialists based on brand. Think about how someone who owns a BMW might look for a BMW repair expert by querying family, friends and co-workers. Also, just because they see a lot of Samsungs, doesn't mean the brand necessarily suffers from more defects than average. Here in the U.S., repair shops see twice as many top-loaders, if not more, based simply on marketshare. In Europe, the reverse is obviously the case: Marketshare, Top Loading Washer, Front Loading Washer Europe, 10%, 90% US, 65%, 35% That said, it's kind of surprising that the shop would see so many Samsungs, given that LG has the largest U.S. marketshare among front-loading laundry units: http://www.lg.com/us/press-release/article/lg-electronics-captures-number-one-market-share-in-front-load-home-laundry-revenues-in-us.jsp Another factor that introduces biases in discussion forums like this, is that you will mostly see the complainers here. People who like their washers and dryers rarely visit owner forums to report their positive experiences. But the complainers will drown out Best Buy and other retail forums with their nightmare experiences, especially when a manufacturer fails to address their problem properly. So you need to be judicious when shopping and look at the total number of positive reviews, the way Amazon.com does it, to form an educated opinion. Too bad that Amazon.com does not really sell washers and dryers, that would really be helpful. Hope that helps. :)

Bosch vs Electrolux double wall oven?

We need to select a new double wall oven for our kitchen reconstruction. I believe we have it narrowed down to the Bosch Benchmark Series 30" electric double wall oven (HBLP651UC), or the Electrolux Icon 30" electric double wall oven (E30EW85PPS). Our budget for the oven purchase price is $4000. Any feedback on one versus the other or both? Known issues? Reliability? Is the Bosch 800 Series worth considering? Other brands/models we should take a look at? Our must-haves are stainless steel, convection in at least one oven, temperature probe. We are not avid bakers (though my husband goes through occasional bread-making phases), but we do utilize our oven frequently for roasting, braising, heating/re-heating, etc. The oven we are replacing is a 12-year old Jenn-Air with upper convection. I do have some concerns about the electrical specifications. We are currently wired for for 30 amps but plan to upgrade to 40 amps for the oven. Are there other electrical parameters we need to be concerned about? Voltage? I know nothing about this stuff. All I know is that our previous oven label specified: 120/240V-7.2kW and 120/208V - 5.5 kW which differs from the specifications of the replacements we are considering. Will the upgrade to 40 amps take care of this? Perhaps this is a question for a different forum... Thanks for the feedback!

MizLizzie, will you share the model # of the wave oven that you purchased? There are sooo many elux ovens wave/iq, etc. I want to make sure i'm looking at the right one. I'm trying to compare the Elux with the Bosch 500 and 800. Thanks.

I've been agonizing over the range decision forever and I have ultimately decided, in large part because of this site, to go with Electrolux Icon Professional (36"). The oven is huge and has beautiful ball bearings for the racks.

I am researching double ovens. I have an LG refrigerator that will be in close proximity to my ovens so the look and style need to be consistent. I am looking at the LG LWD 3010st. I was considering Kitchen Aid but the reviews were disastrous mentioning bursting glass in several reviews during the self clean feature. Does anyone have any experience with the LG ovens? I can't find any reviews on it.

Hi -

Owner of the beloved Electrolux (Icon) 30" double ovens here!

I posted the link to a thread below that has more detail on the Elux ovens and some of the features of the different models.

While we haven't really explored some of the settings yet (you'll see in my posts there!,) it does a fantastic job cooking everything and I (unexpectedly) really like the controls and that they fade away when not in use - very clean look. Favorite features is the gliding racks - a different amount depending on which model you get.

With the caveat that we've only had them installed since March, we do not have a single complaint to report on our ovens.

I agonized among the different models, especially the KA Architect II set, but we went with the Elux Icon All-Fridge and All Freezer, so in the end, the combo of the rebate (yay!) and the glowing reviews sold us on the Electrolux.

Thank you! I am between the Electrolux wave touch or the Bosch 8650, the icon is beautiful but a little out of my price range! My concern with the Electrolux is the size, it's only 4.2where as the Bosch is 4.7
