Which double oven? Electrolux or Bosch

I am remodeling and I have to make a decision in about 10 days. I am leaning toward a Electrolux double oven. I can't decide on which model? Are the regular Electrolux double ovens (i.e., non-pro or icon) the newer models? I am aware that each has a different exterior but are almost the same on inside. I am wondering if the regular Electrolux EW30EW65GS would be the most bang for the buck plus it is a little bigger inside. Any thoughts? Furthermore, my wife likes the Bosch 500 or 800 series. So, any thoughts on which way I should go would be much appreciated.

I'm struggling with exactly the same dilemma, and also leaning toward the Electrolux over the Bosch. If I could get the Icon I would, but I'm limited to 27" size and the Icon only comes in 30".

My appliance dealer explained that the Icon is the high end, the Elex Wave Touch (the one that's 27") is the middle and the Elex IQ is the entry-level. FWIW, he owns an Electrolux single wall oven and loves it.

The Wave Touch is a great oven, excellent reviews, those dreamy slide-out racks... I'm just not crazy about the styling. I LOVE how the Bosch looks - the knobs, the square face. It's like having to choose looks over brains. I usually choose brains. Sigh.

If you can get the 30" Icon model, you don't have to choose - its top of the line, has mad cool looks and all the great features. Done!

We have the Bosch double 30" 800 ovens and am very happy with them. They replaced 50 year old fine working ovens. I chose them because of good reviews re the baking ability of the ovens. I wanted consistent temps, fast pre heat, good baking and good broilers. Unfortunately, I just haven't used them much b/c of the hot summer and the fact that we're empty nesters essentially and dh is a light eater.

I have baked bread 4 or 5 times and they performed perfectly. I was surprised that they vent warm air thru the front, into the kitchen, which is a negative, but I am guessing that most new ovens do that. My old ovens did not vent at all.

I have not yet used the self clean. They still sparkle like new.

So far, I love them and am optomistic that they will perform well. They were installed approx 2.5 mos. ago.

Others like elux also.

Have had a 27" 500 series Bosch wall oven for almost three years and have been pleased in all respects. Quiet fan and large oven capacity for the size. The oven light goes off each time the door is closed so it has to be turned back on if you want it to stay on during baking. That is a pain, but not a major issue. I do have to rotate items once for even baking. If you want items to brown, convection must be used. For convection, Bosch says to reduce temp by 25 degrees and that has worked for me. Overall, the oven has the feel of a quality product. Although not metal, knobs still look like new. I think they'll hold up nicely long term. I don't tempt fate by using the self-clean feature. The interior walls seem to clean easily so I'm OK with that. I had planned to special order an easy glide rack, but the standard racks are hefty and glide nicely so have decided to stay with standard. You might search online to see if you can still special order. Compare prices through different vendors. Of course this review does not speak to possible issues with current models. I've known a few people who have had durability problems with KA ovens and would not go with them again. I feel your pain going through that headache of appliance shopping. Good luck.

Hi - Owner of the beloved Electrolux (Icon) 30" double ovens here! I posted the link to a thread below that has more detail on the Elux ovens and some of the features of the different models. While we haven't really explored some of the settings yet (you'll see in my posts there!,) it does a fantastic job cooking everything and I (unexpectedly) really like the controls and that they fade away when not in use - very clean look. Favorite features is the gliding racks - a different amount depending on which model you get. With the caveat that we've only had them installed since March, we do not have a single complaint to report on our ovens. I agonized among the different models, especially the KA Architect II set, but we went with the Elux Icon All-Fridge and All Freezer, so in the end, the combo of the rebate (yay!) and the glowing reviews sold us on the Electrolux. I am also trying to decide between these two brands but have a few others in the running as well. I was fondling the knobs on them yesterday at TGI and noted these things for you to consider. HTH. Both have ball bearing slide out racks. Bosch has 1, Electrolux has 2. Both offer extra racks as an accessory purchase. Electrolux oven light has "fade" feature similar to dome lights on many new car interiors. The cobalt blue interior is nice, reminds me of enameled camp cookware. It also has hidden controls (they are calling it Wave Touch) which don't appear until you press something. Some people might like the clean look of this but I think it would bug me, at least until I got to know where every button is located on the thing. Bosch features a "fast preheat" button. This might be good as I hear many ovens with hidden elements take way longer to heat up. (I don't know how much faster it actually preheats compared to other ovens; any users got feedback on this?) It also has amber LCD touch controls and features a vent on the bottom (won't be blowing in the user's face). The ball bearing rack seems more cautious about speed of sliding than the Electrolux, but is equally responsive.

I thought I would update this thread with a recent experience that we had with our Double 30" Electrolux ovens. Installed this August, they seemed fine, until we released the time was running fast on the clock. No big deal. Then we noticed things were taking much longer to cook in the top oven than the bottom, as well as taking much longer to get to temperature. After buying some after market thermometers, we saw the top oven was running 150 degrees below what it said it was running at, unless convection was picked. Bottom oven seemed to run closer to desired temp, but still off a bit. Called Electrolux and had a service company take a look at it. We were not happy about having these problems in an expensive (and new) oven, and requested a replacement. Electrolux said they would get back to us. 1 week later we found out the swap was approved. New oven was delivered, and the temps are running dead on perfect. Every product can have a one off lemon, it's how they deal with it. I am VERY pleased with the service we received, and I would happily recommend Electrolux to anyone who is interested. FYI, regarding the blue flaking, we did have it on both the original oven and the replacement. After the oven was first installed and ran, there were some flakes on the bottom of the oven. After wiping them out the first time, we have never seen them occur again. I attribute it to the first time the oven is moved and not a big deal as it never happened a second time.
