Kitchen Aid Architect II Double Wall Oven or Electrolux Icon?
Comments (8)Hi - We looked at both and went with the Electrolux Icon double set and absolutely love them. We've been in our kitchen since March, so it's not forever, but they've been a dream. Cook really well and I really like the controls. Easy to figure out - and I didn't expect how much I'd like that they fade out when you're not using it so it's a clean front except the clock. The gliding racks are fantastic - don't know who's had problems with them (read one who cleaned the gliders with something which had an affect on them?) But that was one of my KEY decisions. All three racks in both ovens glide - as opposed to the one in the KA Architect II. I asked and you can pay extra to get the gliders for the other racks but if I was spending for a double set, why would I want to pay more! The only feedback I have (and I posted this elsewhere) is that we placed them above the Electrolux warming drawer for a full stack. That makes the controls slightly above my eye height - and I am 5' 11"! I don't use the top rack of the upper at all b/c even though it slides, I have to lift the food up to get it there. Even the mid is a little higher than usual but I'm tall and hubby is 6'2". My advice would just be to put them in a regular double oven cabinet - I would have liked them slightly lower. That said, my 9 yr is a budding chef and even she can reach the controls so it's not that huge of a deal. Pics below - I think you'll be really happy if you go with the Elux Icon set, but best of luck either way! Alexa P.S. Not sure if this is a remodel/new with cabinets or a replacement, but we put a "tray" cabinet in above the oven and it's fantastic....See MoreElectrolux vs KitchenAid wall oven choice
Comments (1)The KA broiler is worthless IMO - the door must be closed when broiling, and the entire oven heats up and the food winds up tasting like it was baked in the oven rather than just having its top seared. The ELux allows the door to be opened properly to the first notch when broiling allowing for proper grilling effect, or at least did the last time I looked at them. Also the fans in the KA are noisy....See More30' Wall Ovens - Bosch or Electrolux?
Comments (5)I have had a convection oven for 6 years before purchasing a double wall oven at the end of December. I also considered both of these ovens and the number one reason I did not go with the Bosch is because I knew I wanted convection in both. I am so glad I did too, as in the five months since I got it I've used both ovens way more than I expected to, and I often am using convection baking in both. Because of my work schedule, I do almost all of my baking/cooking on the weekends for the following week. The electrolux is about an 1" deeper than my old convection oven, and I didn't own anything that I was not able to make fit in that one so I wasn't too worried about the loss of space. With the electrolux, there are several baking cycles that also use the convection fans at times - you may want to check with the Bosch and see if not all baking cycles will work with the non-convection oven. Mine can be used as a dehydrator, and that requires the convection fan. I do adore the proofing cycle - that is my favorite. Cathy...See MoreBosch oven: Anyone have new version? Or KitchenAid oven?
Comments (2)I have one of the 500 series - a single oven version though. I love it. I wasn't aware of any heat around it when it was operating. It vents at the bottom, so there's no discomfort from warm air at waist or face height. The controls are simple and intuitive. The cooling fan is really, really quiet - you can hardly notice it (and I was worried, after stuff I'd read at GW). The racks are currently a little stiffer than my old oven (which was ancient) but I suspect they'll loosen up soon. I hadn't actually come across any negative stuff here about Bosch ovens, so I'm surprised that we have such different impressions. I also have, at varying ages, a Bosch washer, and dishwasher. All have performed excellently. I'm very happy with my oven....See Moregursg24
