Dishwashers. Asko? Miele? Bosch?
Comments (4)girl - the sump of a DW needs a given amount of water to even run at all -"the fill". For a miele it's around 7 gallons. It doesn't matter whether it has 1 spray arm running or 5, it still takes 7 gallons to fill the sump. The half load options lessen that , but not by half , down to 3.5 gallons. The arms run on water flow and pressure - not electricity. Sure it takes a bit more to run multiple arms - but not enough more that you'd notice without some sophisticated equip. hooked up to your DW. I'd rank em : 3. Bosch - broader line and more $$$ options especially at the low end. Their entry level DW is nothing like their top of the line model, they aren't even made in the same place. The top models are quite good but are just as expensive as a miele so there's not a great reason to select it of that brand at the upper levels. 2. Asko - high quality across the line, but not as big and not as widely distributed. Started to produce some/all models outside home country. 1. Miele - high quality from entry level to top of range. The only difference is more insulation, more adjustment in the racks, and more wash programs. The very cheapest model is without a water softener to save $$$. Still made at home in germany....See MorePlease offer your opinion: Miele Dimension Plus or Miele Diamond
Comments (13)My Optima had the top rack with the left piece that lifts out vs older DW with one-piece top rack. I removed the piece once. Most important to me was that back of the bottom rack that folds down. I also like that the plate-guard rack comes out so I can do a whole rack of pots. What I especially liked was the new config of the second rack, which is flatter in the newer models and easier to load (less sliding around). Also, I'd want that center one adjustable (both mine adjust -- it may be standard). I do use that. I think it's smart to focus on Express. I don't have it on the older machine and it's the one thing I miss. I also use china/crystal a lot but not everyone needs that. I wouldn't pay extra for delay start, anything more than the basic cycles plus Express, the whole sensor business and ultra quiet when regular quiet was just fine. Optima was once described by antss as the "sweet spot" and whatever the current equivalent is would be the same....See MoreQuestions RE: Miele, Bosch & KA dishwashers
Comments (25)Diamante Plus installed yesterday and I must say I am impressed, at least initially. Dishes were spotless with all default settings. A couple of questions at this time. With the hidden controls, do you actually have to power off the dishwasher, or will it turn off after a certain period of time? The installer suggested we try it without adding an water softener salt initally. Our water hardness is 10pbm, so not all that bad, but enough to not make our glasses perfect. Also, the installer did not install the heatshield. My husband told him that eventually we will be replacing our cabinetry & formica countertops but I am wondering if that was a mistake given we don't quite know when we will be doing the renovation. We know if do want to do one in the future though. I was so impressed with how quiet it is. It trumps the builder grade GE that we just got rid of by a mile!...See MoreIs a 36" range and Miele speed oven enough?
Comments (4)I have a 30" BS RNB and a Miele speed oven (6700 in the new series). The only other combinations we considered were a 36" BS and we were initially just going for a built in microwave. When we learned about the speed oven, we jumped at the chance to also get rid of our toaster oven. There are only two of us, we don't entertain large groups, and we've never had multiple ovens, just to give a point of reference. The only cons I can say about the speed oven is the rack-changing can be a little annoying and it's a bit too small to fit a couple things I'd hoped to bake in it. There are many things that I, by nature, would do in a microwave and DH would do stove top (melting butter, heating soup or beans). Our microwave was in a back bedroom for a few months, so I've tried to develop the non-microwave habit. Therefore, most of what we tend to use it for is the toaster oven end of things. We leave it set up like that. If you plan to go back and forth between use a lot, it could be a bother. I've only tried a master chef setting once. Seemed to work okay. Just made corn muffins. There are so many different 'manual' settings, we're still getting used to that. I did make toast in it the other day. It would get easier with time. I had to baby sit it and flip it (I basically broiled it and flipped it). For as often as I have toast, it's great. And I have an old toaster in the cupboard if I wasn't in the mood. The BS oven and broiler, I love. It's HUGE for a 30". Yes, the door gets hot. No, I haven't had it on while cooking at the range, but it would be hot. Yes, it would be nice if the broiler was bigger, but for what it is, it's great. The oven DOES take forever to heat up. Feel free to ask any further questions....See Morefriedajune
