There are 4 infrared (IR) LEDs on the camera that are invisible to owls and humans, but allow the camera to pick up an image we can see at night. There is also ambient light from the neighborhood that comes into the box at night. Is this camera hardwired, battery operated, or solar powered? ItÂs hardwired. Can the night cam zoom in? No, only the daytime camera has zoom and is height-adjustable. The infrared camera is positioned lower and gives a different view of the nest. Does the light at night annoy Molly? There is some ambient light from the neighborhood, but there are no extra lights used at night. Molly doesnÂt seem to mind. Are the cameras actually inside the box? No, they are attached to the exterior of the house with a protective cover.

I would have to learn a bunch to figure out how to get one working.. but it would be fun. Suggestion: I keep the birdcam window up, and just resize all my other computer program windows so I any activity will catch my eye. Every once in a while I have to hit F5 to refresh it.. I've seen her in there this morning. IT seems like most nest building happens in the morning. Hard work I guess, then they need the rest of the day to rest and feed.. I definitely would not try anything once the eggs are in the nest but I'm just itching to get that focus right. I adjusted for what I thought would be the bottom of the nest material and did not think about a little higher to account for the birds height. Maybe the babies will at least be in focus initially until they grow. They looks like the first layer is a certain type of moss.

Bird box nest camera. Mine is a "birdhouse Spy Cam" or "Night Owl Nature Cam" I can't believe how much I have been missing! Tonight was the first night without Mom in the box and they are all huddled up together, when one baby moves they all move like they were glued together, they move like one little ball of feathers...ok everybody go left....ok now right..nope back to the left! Once in awhile one will pop out of the huddle to stretch then dive right back in the middle. This is too much fun!
