Another thing, my sisters keep chickens(longer than I have) and they swear the only thing to feed a sick chicken is chicken eggs, scrambled, not raw.

I think they're called ABC or A & B (can't remember & don't have a Dallas business phone book).

They're within about a block of Barbeck's (Barbeq's? Barbec's?) restaurant.

My chicken got sick. She was on a regime of antibiotics and gatorade. I give all my sick animals gatorade. PJ

PJ, kitties have very techy livers, so if you ever get a kitty you might check with a vet before you feed it gatoraide. LOL!

I'll have to try the gatorade - thanks! And how funny, Sylvia - We have used Dr. Ahumada at A&B for years, and I never realized he handled birds, too. I wound up taking her out to Aggie's for a shot of penicillin, and I'm worming all of them. If she's not looking better tomorrow, I'll take her back for another shot. I'm paying the neighborhood kids 5 cents a grub and 25 cents for each earth snake, since that's all she wants to eat. I'll pick up some Gatorade and see if she'll drink that, too.

Well, she wasn't looking good this afternoon, and she stopped drinking and eating. She was breathing very heavily and wouldn't open her eyes for very long. We were watching her through the window during dinner and saw her lay her head down and die. Poor little gal. Amazing how attached we have gotten to them. This is the first one we've lost.

So sorry to hear about your chicken. We used to have a pair of geese and a pair of ducks as pets when my family lived on a farm in Iowa. One of our ducks died and I was really sad about it. We did get another female for the male. We had them named and everything - very original names for a pair of ducks - Donald and Daisy. ;-) And our geese were called Salt and Pepper - one was white and the other was gray - how original, huh? We do get attached to our pets, whether they have fur or feathers.

Can someone help me out?

I have 3 sick chickens. One has both eyes closed and the other one eye closed. Two chickens have these sores on their beaks and on one leg. Two out of the 3 chickens had diarrhea.

I've been giving them chamomille tea diluted with purified water with a little bit of erythromycin. The diarrhea stopped. I've been putting two drops of colloidal silver in the eyes of the chickens that's closed, and neosporin on the chickens that have the sores on their leg and beak.

All three are eating and drinking well. I do change their newspaper in their cages everyday. I have a heating pad under their cages to keep them warm.

I'm wondering if I should try a little bit of Propel or gatorade in their water and some vita-sol. I have 3 cockatiels. When they get sick and sluggish with the runs, I give them chamomille tea and vitasol diluted with purified water and a little bit of erythromycin. I keep them warm with the heating pad under their cage. This perks them up in about 3 days. They still drink purified water.

OMG that sounds way more serious than what my chickens had! I would've gone to vet over open sores like that. I gave mine Gatorade,tetracycline,egglaying scratch, and kept the chickens' area very clean with a strong solution of vinager water. PJ

i have been looking into giving olive leaf extract for a friend with sick chickens i found where someone had posted that it worked really well ! 6 capsules to 1 gallon on water! i have used it on other animals and found it works really really well!
