This year has been hard on some plants here. Some daylilies nearly croaked, I dig two up, put them in pots placing them in the shade and they are coming back, some others are own their own I don't have enough pots. Pride of Barbados is being eaten by something, grasshopper? I've had Coreopsis croak on me and I was told they are wonderful to have a no problem PLANT HA.
Even some of my tried and true tough plants are not having a good year, many plants late in blooming, all the while I'm seeing same plants in other peoples yard blooming before mine and looking great. Is there something to being organic that makes plants bloom later? I do know the wind has had some effect on my plants, wind=dry dry ground and tap water not so good for plants or grass. Once it rains everything looks so happy for a few days.
I'd do the Nekkid Turtle Dance but I think it would scare MN and she'd go water somewhere's else LOL.

I do hope we all get some rain soon

Drown or Dry that's Texas for me anyway. My garden is struggling(even as a somewhat established xeriscape).
Last year I lost a couple Xeriscape plants to too much water! The TX indigenous natives are looking the best so I still have some color besides wilted green and brown.
I'm making a list of what handles drown/drought and designing my garden around that. PJ

I know what you mean Barb, I have lost some plants this year too. My DH installed a sprinkler system in the front yard and I still have droopy plants. I am tired of watering so if some don't make it they are outta here.

PJ, your plants look good. I can't believe how pretty your rattlebox tree is and so filled with blooms. You did a good thing when you planted Texas Natives.

Carol, you are so good at posting pretty slide shows! I need clear directions on how to do the nekkid turtle dance. I need to see visuals, because I learn best that way. Would you please post yourself doing the nekkid turtle dance so I can then do it anytime you sound the call? Thanks!!!

Julie, that's a wonderful idea but you can learn better by doing it. I can instruct you.

Well, this dry period could be my fault, I tried the nekkid turtle dance without seeing the video first. Guess as Barb typed, perhaps I caused MN to gasp so hard she forgot to breathe!

Although, I do have the day off tomorrow, guess I could give it another try!

I think I did the dance wrong...maybe TOO nekkid? The neighbors asked that I do it in the BACK yard next time...LOL. It rained a lot here last week and ticked off some of my plants. like PJ said, drown or dry. Oh well. The Mexican Heathers are still happy, and the oleander, agapanthus, and plumbago...my echinacias are too wet I think, and the gallardia bit the dust. All three of them. :(

I grew gallardia in the Mojave desert(2-9" rain annually). I think it would be way too wet here for them. Echinacias are native so you'd think they could do the whole dry/drown thing? PJ

Gallardia are native too. *sigh* I guess Carol doesn't care enough about making it rain. She's just not committed enough. I really need to see CAROL doing the nekkid turtle dance. Everyone else is doing it wrong and accidentally making it 99 degrees and dry.

Great pic! I think I have red gatorade coming out my nose! I didn't put a wreath around my head...must try again...Perhaps I didn't specify WHERE the rain was needed - I got too much here, and not enough for Carol.

Oooh - has everyone tried the "wash and wax your car" raindance? I'm sure you have, but it's an important step in the progression from hoping for rain to nekkid turtle dance...

Almost as soon as I posted this picture I went outside and saw huge rain drops falling so I raised the windows in my car and let the unbrellas down so rain could hit the plants under them and what do you know...the rain suddenly stopped.

I knew I should've kept the car windows down and left the umbrellas up.

Dahlia, maybe we do need to try the "wash and wax your car" rain dance. Maybe even plan a picnic.

I washed my truck (getting so dirty it was tacky) yesterday! Caaarrroooolll!!! Sheesh! PJ

I'm sooo jealous! I got some pretty,puffy clouds but no water. PJ

It rained for about 5 minutes but had enough wind to pick up my empty preformed pond and set it down for the second time in a week right in the same spot. On top of some of my potted plants. Broke one of my rose bushes to pieces. Waaaha. The ground was dry in about another 5 minutes so it didn't rain much.

I hate this place. I just looked at the radar and it's raining all around here - BUT NOT HERE. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! *major hissy fit*

We drove to Benbrook lake to pick a camping spot yesterday and it rained several places near Burelson and Crowley but when we got to Joshua it barely rained.

Looks like some of you DFWers got a little rain yesterday, it huffed and puffed out west my way but not a drop of rain. *pouts* I'm having to water every other day and some of my plants require it everyday...I'm hopping on one leg and watering with only one arm now with my water bill as high as it is.

Did that Nakkid Turtle go on vacation?

Well, No rain here but there was some down the road aways guess 2 miles from me grrrrrrrrr.
I did however get lots of water heater water last night on the lawn and the living room carpet........Garage was flooded.
So it cost me 800.00 bucks to water the front lawn last night, carpet cleaning and garage floor cleaning for a new water heater :(
I'm hoping they will take it off my water bill?

Still working on sucking up the water in carpet.

Okay I did my part. I washed my car.

Patiently waiting.
