need help with Fort Worth Plant Swap ID's

I got some plants at the fort worth plant swap, and I thought I did a better job of writing down the names, but now I don't know what they are (or where I should put them).

And here is one that I thought was a blue something (not a blue mist flower as I know they have different leaves) I have it next to a bee balm and I think a lemon balm. The leaves look sort of a cross between the two.

Here is another plant that I have (it was here when I got here). I know it is an iris, but I thought I only had bearded irises, but I don't remember all the others having the inside like this one. It also bloomed after the others. It is in the same spot as the others and it would be interesting to have one different from all the others. Maybe it is just a plain iris and I didn't notice it on the others.

The Blue something looks like Black and Blue salvia?

The first one looks like Jewels of Opar .. and I agree with Barb, the other one is a blue salvia (either Black and Blue or one of the similar ones)

Thank you, yes. Now I remember something about a blue salvia (is that the annual?) I'm confused, I thought lantana was a perennial, but all the ones for sale in the stores say annual.

The Jewels of Opar came from Sylvia--it was in my bag when I got home. A nice little surprise. Thank you.

Good idea about the iris forum (although, it might be moot now--I don't remember which plant that bloom came from. All the leaves look the same. That is what I get for not marking stuff :)

Lantana is annual or perennial depending on how cold it gets where you're at. It doesn't like to be frozen. If you don't have extended freezing temps or say, temps in the twenties/teens, it's usually fine, and will return next spring. Don't prune at all unless you are certain danger of frost has past...pruning stimulates new growth, especially in a warmer snap. I kind of hate that nursery tags really give so little accurate infomation...it's been my contention for years that they should have to put zones, plus a warning for plants that can't withstand high humidity for those closer to the coast on those little tags.

That is a beautiful unknown iris. I've been thinking about getting some. That type of salvia is an annual...occasionally some plants will overwinter, but not regularly. It reseeds heavily, so don't deadhead until you're sure that flower has cast seed already, and don't put down any weed preventer in the bed (they are typically preemergents, and will prevent any seed from sprouting).

Now that I've gone on and on, I'll stop. I like salvia...lots of plants for free! And really hardy to boot.

I hate that I had to miss the Ft. Worth Swap. Hopefully I will make the next one. I have lilac trailing lantana I wanted to thin out. I'm in Arlington if anyone is still in need of some.

Also, from the first picture, I was thrilled to see a name attached to it, because I have a lot of that coming up everywhere & wanted to know about it. But one source describes Jewels of Opar as shown below:

"Talinum paniculatum 'Variegatum'

The variegated form of Jewels of Opar has excellent creamy white edged foliage, handsome enough alone, but especially nice when set off by the wiry reddish stems topped with dainty pink flowers. Coppery round seed heads. heads follow. 18".

Zone: 10
Exposure: sun/pt shade"

This doesn't sound quite like what I have. Mine is exactly like the picture above, with solid green,sort of fleshy leaves. Those dainty little pink blossoms are a nightmare. They pop up with dozens of plants everywhere, including in the grass. Do you all think I have the Jewels plant?

dee2000: It sounds like you do have Jewels of Opal but not the variegated form. See link attached.

That is it! Thank you. It is kinda pretty, so I guess I will just keep pulling up the babies in order to have one little bed of them.

alley, the iris is Dutch iris, they come in white, yellow, and and assortment of blues.
