Blue Bonnet Secret(s)?

Hi,

I'm in Florida in a climate roughly equivalent to Blue Bonnet Texas heaven.

I really want to grow them. Failed miserably last year.

Hoping you folks might know if there's anything distinctive about the Texan soil in which they naturally self seed?

Is the pH more alkaline? Is their native soil sandy or more like clay? Is the soil richer in any particular elements? Do they really love a lot of water? They really do better in shade or something. That kind of thing.

Thank you very much in advance.
