? re where to plant Red Sister Cordyline(m)
Comments (10)Teeka, I've got some planted in full sun in zone 9 for over a year, with no supplemental water (no sprinklers or hose) after the first week or two of water to help get it established. It looks great, and is lush & healthy looking. My neighbor in zone 10 has it in full sun no supplementatl water either and it looks kind of faded and weak. I've also got Kiwi in full to very, very light, diffuse shade (a couple of overhead queen palms)in zone 10, they're only been there for a few weeks, but so far so good. The color is spectacular and holding up well. I love 'em....See Morecordyline red sister and sensation (m)
Comments (3)I think you are right, the labels are probably not intended for Florida sun, at least not 6+ hours of it. I am going to go through the process of moving the ones that get the afternoon sun or maybe adding a palm tree(good excuse for another purchase!) to shade them. I have the green ones, too, but I put those in the shade(all the labels said shade)...for some reason these red variety say differently. teeka...See MoreAny success with Cordyline Fruticosa / Ti Plant 'Kiwi'...?
Comments (3)Jen, it's been a while since I had a Ti, but living in IL, mine had to come indoors in winter. Once spring came, I set out in 'full sun'. The more sun colors are more pronounced.. In winter, I use a humidifier, mist daily, and only water when soil feels dry..(also in summer) Overwatring will cause root rot. The sad thing growing Ti's indoors is they're prone to spider mites..So, check plant thoroughly. Some mites are difficult detecting..especially in early stages. and we all know how destructive those little critters are. Good luck, Toni...See MoreRed sister Hawaiian Ti
Comments (4)If they get to fruiting I find Cordyline seeds germinate readily. You could find yourself with lots of seedlings, but no telling what the progeny might look like....See Moretugbrethil
