Its my anniversary this week! We are going away for the weekend. I was thinking how nice it is that all my siblings and parents volunteered to babysit. Everyone is being so thoughtful. My Secret Pal remembered our anniversary too! :)
I did not even remember telling anyone when it was. She sent me a lovely card with warm wishes. The flowers on the front are gorgeous.
It reminds me of when I first got married...when everyone and their cousin came to see who he was and was interested in our relationship. You know once I was settled, people forget to celebrate and to take an interest. Now, its like "ahhhh, its just him-no biggie."
It feels nice that we are happy together and people are happy for us.
I hope everyone else is enjoying May.

Today I received the CUTEST Garden Fairy to adorn my daylily bed with!

She is absolutely beautiful and I love her so much!

Secret Pal (not so secret pal *lol*) you know me so well as this is PERFECT for the bare spot in my bed and I will cherish her always.

I'm going to ask my little girl to name her but I'm going to suggest the name Dianna.....:)

My pal's been thinking of me. She sent two different packages of cookies which I have set aside to munch only during my computer time. That's one more thing to lure me toward the computer, which I've been very good about staying away from while catching up on my family duties. There were wonderful packages of cactus and herb seeds. Cactus seeds are cool because you never know what's going to wind up sprouting. My grandson is very attracted to the cute windsock. So attracted that I gave it to his mom to hang up where the fan hits it. Having a new thing to keep him entertained gives my cheek muscles a break. ;-) (One of his favorite things for me to do is to stand there sticking out my tongue & making raspberries. He sticks his back out at me and breaks out laughing. This can go on for a very long time because he doesn't like me to stop. Now he has a new thing to watch & we can put it outside later.)

I've really been enjoying the two mini-magazines, except that the backyard handyman one has me wishing that our yard could EVER look like any of those. This is making me do a lot of daydreaming. Something to look forward to, eh?

As usual, I might not have listed it all, but we sure are enjoying everything in there. You are the BEST PAL EVER!

I got a really nice box from my pal yesterday. There were eight different plants in the box. Wow! I spent part of the evening getting them potted up. I don't have any of them and will have to do some research as to what conditions they like. I also got a cute garden themed note holder and a large pink butterfly in the box. The butterfly I added to my wreath on the front porch. He looks cute there with the large sunflowers I have. Thanks so much pal!

Wow! I got a package today from my secet pal and it was ver thoughtful. It included some printed cute garden gloves, two small notepads, some seeds,AND BEST OF ALL - something I have always wanted and think is TERRIBLY cute - a frog that hangs onto the side of a flower pot. I love those little things!

Thank you secret pal!! I received a wonderful package today. I'm not sure what my favorite part is, I love everything that was in the package. The lemon balm smells wonderful, and so does the chocolate mint. I planted them and the sage today. I didn't plant the elephant ears yet, but will do that tomorrow. Thank you for the cumin seed. I've looked at several different places here and have not been able to find any. I love the "footprints", it looks like they are made to hang on a wall, but I put them out by my "birdbath" pond. Thank you also for the pink glad bulbs it's okay that they aren't daffodils LOL they will look great in my yard. I really appreciate you taking the time to write out info on the lemon balm and sage. Thank you again for the generous package.

Thank you Secret Pal! I am so sorry I have not posted earlier. I did recieve the wonderful package you sent me. You did not miss my anniversary. Actually, my son was sick and my father is having surgery. So, I had to cancel my anniversary weekend. Maybe later. I can't believe you sent me so many plants and bulbs! Wow! I am actually planting them today. By the way, the clover you sent me in March is thriving.
My son officially loves you. He consumed the edibles immediately. He says thank you for the pencils and for thinking of him.
My personal favorite is the magazine ofcourse. I am getting so many ideas from those magazines. I really appreciate the dish towel too. You can never have too many of those cause the work is never done.
I could go on and on because you are so good to me but it might make someone jealous. Suffice it to say, if I weren't so clumsy and I did not want people to stare at me, I'd do cartwheels or dance a jig or something. Your awesome. Thanks Secret Pal!

I got a surprise today.
Kathy sent me a very generous package to make up for a twice absent minded secret pal.
Kathy thank you so much for the box. I have already opened up the flavored coffees and my husband keeps begging for a cup. Should I share....hmmmm. Well he was good enough this week, I think I will give him a cup. lol

The seeds have been planted. I can't wait for the cumin to grow, my last batch I tried sprouting did not do so well when I went on vacation.
The footstep plaques are just too cute.
And this weekend I am going to start spreading all the fertilizer.

Thank you secret pal. I received my box Saturday, and have them in the ground and pot. I absolutely love cannas. I received red. Can you believe it? I also love orchids!!!!!!!!!! But since I live so far north, I have never tried one. Guess what? I received a dancing lady orchid. I will keep you up to date on it's progress.

I got a box today from my secret pal. I really, really needed garden gloves. My hands and nails thank you. LOL I love, love, love the weather vane! To those who don't know...it's a couple of metal pole pieces with a n/e/s/w directional piece that fits on. The top is a metal flower. It's wonderful and already outside right in front of my dining room window.

OOH! I recieved again today so the last package was for April. Today I recieved a hanging bag that you plant with flowers and hang up - I think I will plant it with Bacopa so it can really trail! Also, there was a little canister for herbs, some very healthy & nice lemon balm (I love it!) and some chocolate blackberry jam! Thank you very much sweet secret pal!!

Another lovely package from my secret pal! I never know what to expect as I open the box, except for lots of tissue paper! First, she sent me great pictures of parts of her garden, which I love, as it shows me how others garden. A cute card with a nice note inside, which I love, as it shows a real person with interests there. She sent 3 lovely pins for wearing on my outfits. Think she has been peeking in my jewelry box to see what my taste is, and she has guessed it pretty well. Two sweet boxes of cards to use with my snail mail pen pal stuff. A great can of special tea, and I go thru tea like the english people do, and I am not english! Does German and Finnish count? Then she put in 3 great shade plants, and I will get them in the soil tomorrow, after the "hi english tea party" at our church that us gals do once a year. One third of our yard is shade garden, and these will have a great home. Thank you so much for all the items you send secret pal, and for making it fun. I fell 2 weeks ago, and twisted the ankle quite bad, broke 2 ribs, and cracked one, and chipped another. So the gardening is on hold at present, I just let hubby do it, I point and tell him "put it here". Housework for a large part is on semi hold....did you ever try to sweep with broken ribs? What an excuse to not use a broom! Have a great day secret pal, and thank you so much for all the great items you sent.

Yet another wonderful package from my sweet pal. You are so very thoughtful....I have enjoyed the perrrenial book since the weather has been pretty bad. I always love looking at pictures of what my gardens should sometime resemble :) Right now the wonderful rain and little bit of sun have caused my weed forest to thrive :( The picture frame again has vanished into the room of no return. The girls thank you. And the many seeds, I can't wait to get a few of them started. You have a spot in my garden which just keeps growing and growing thank you!!!!

And I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but please know I always have a smile and many thanks everytime I see the package in the mail...between work and being gone for three weeks I'm not sure I'll ever catch up.

When I got home from work today (Wed 25th) I had a package waiting for me on the front step from my pal.

I am now the proud owner of a Purple Spiderwort plant. It is sooooo cool looking, I have to find the perfect spot for it by the pond. I will need to research it too.

The wall hanging (birdhouse/flower pot) will be hung out by my little green house I got this spring.

Pal - I enjoyed you letter. You are so lucky to have the week off, I envy you. I have been working an average of 55 hours a week since Feb, but once June comes it should be down to around 40 or so. I plan to take a few days in Mid June off and about the first 10 days of July!!!! I've been squeezing in as much gardening before dark each night, but it's not enough to keep up. I need to dig things up from the garden over the next week for I am going to our state GW plant swap that another GW memeber is hosting. Have never gone to a plant swap before, so I am very excited and I know I will thoroughly enjoy it. I've met some of the participants this past January at a seed swap, but will get to meet more folks at the swap. Hope to get lots of different items, for I have lots of space at home and twice as much room at the lake to plant.

I just got a note from Kathy.. I thought I had posted that I received my package. I was away traveling to a supervisor's conference with my job. I surely didn't intend not to let you know that I had gotten it. I received from my pal a very lovely card and nice sunny and bright sun hat which my daughter has STOLEN and wears around with all her others. Giggling. It's very pretty and bright.
All is well here in WV. I have convinced my mother to come for a visit over the holiday weekend. I tried to get my father to come however he is just to weak to travel the 2 hrs here. It has been an event making arrangements for someone to stay with him for the 4 days that my mother will be here.
My mother is very excited about it, and is so emotionally wore out that this will be a great lifter of her spirits.
For those who don't know... in Jan, Feb, AND March we lost members of my immediate family all within 6 weeks. My mother is now without any other living family members There is only my father and we her 2 children and 2 grandchildren. She was in the hospital herself when her first brother died, brother 2 died 1 mth and 2 days later, and first cousin 1 week later. My father had a 3rd stroke and she has been taking care of him and not even able to care for herself.
I have made many trips home over the past 5 mths and have so been looking forward to spring and summer. So this visit will be good for her. Thank you pal for always asking about my family and for keeping us in your prayers. It has truly been through God's graciousness, blessings and care that we have made it these last months.
I look forward to your card next month and hearing from you.

Got a wonderful little package from my Secret Pal today. I always wondered what chocolate mint smelled like, how could it possibly smell like chocolate? Well, it does. How amazing! Thanks so much for sharing it with me.

And I love the froggy windsock, I will put it by my pond! Also thanks for the bandana, that will come in handy when it finally warms up here! I don't actually have much blooming here right now, we have had a really cool and rainy spring too. Thanks for telling me about your birds and your garden. You're a great Secret Pal.

I have one of the most talented pals, she designs (at least I think she does) beautiful note cards and gift tags using buttons, and ribbons and floral sketches. She sent me a half a dozen of each and I believe she could easily sell these for a few dollars each. The amount of time each on takes, amazes me. I do not have the talent or the patience for these. Hello, All!!! I hope none of you have sent me an email becauce I haven't been able to check my email (if I don't hurry up & get another computer of my own I'm going to scream!). The sister's boyfriend's computer had to be worked on due to the 500+ viruses he had (he blamed email but I told him downloading music could open up a computer for viruses too). Anyway, I'll check it soon, I promise!

I received the following from my pal:
A very pretty card with "Handmade" on back. SP, did you make it? There's a black & yellow bird on a tree or shrub & it has a red flower. It's very pretty, in fact, I'm putting it in a picture frame. Pal, if you made that yourself I am impressed! I also got a package of dianthus 'Arctic Fire' seeds, which were on my want list. A cute little ladybug magnet, an iris plant, & some floating candles. She also sent a battery-operated, handheld fan, which is most appreciated since it's been so hot here. I wasn't thrilled when it got tangled up in my hair, although it would have been hysterical if it would have happened to someone else (say, my husband or one of the kids!). I also got a box of 50 incense cones with a ceremic incense holder "to keep insects at bay" printed on the box. Again, most appreciated since this is the South & we're plagued by all sorts of insects (& the husband's chickens obviously aren't doing their job). Thank you so much secret pal! I loved everything!

I recvd a package in the mail today from my secret pal. It was a hand tuned set of wind chimes that make the prettiest sound! I already have them hung up on my front porch to sing never ending music to my ears and heart in the evening breeze.

I also recvd a beautiful, most appropriate card with a very thoughtful note inside.

To answer your questions, I have five acres with 7 Bradford pear trees, one daylily that I think is stella doro or maybe happy returns, and one autumn joy or autumn fire sedum. There were two dead rose bushes in the bed with the daylily and sedum which I already pulled out. I have been working the dirt to prepare for some new babies.

As far as my ponds, I have an area marked out for the new one. Hopefully we will begin digging it this weekend. I have 7 of my water lilies and 3 other plants that I am holding in a couple of tubs until the pond is dug.

First let me tell you I did get my oackage from my secretpal. I have been in the hospital since May 23rd and just got released on May 30th. So I am sorry for being late in posting this. It ended up I have several pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) From what I understand it was (is?) life threatening. Had the clots been any larger they say I would not have made it to the hospital. They aslo had serveral comp,lications. So I am home now but sort of house/bed ridden for about a week.

My husband brought my pakage from my secretpal to the hospital. He knew it would brighten up my day. The cake we have not eaten, because the nurses at the hospital got me a cake and I was not eating well the first few days in the hospital anyway. Hubby froze it until I would be able to enjoy it. But it is such a lovely gesture. I am sure it will be yummy. The vanilla grass did not make it, but it smelled so good. I think it stayed out in our desert heat too long, as my husband did not get it until the end of the day and it has been on the 100 degree range here. Maybe in the fall or winter if it is available, I would like to purchase some from you as we do not have it available here.
The dragon fly is just too cute. I have not decided where to put it yet, as I want to be able to view it every day.
I want to thank you for your pleasant birthday package. It really brightened up my day in the hospital.
