I have read that in this instance that people can do two grafts. The native variety being the most hardy and strongest rooting, then a short intermediary piece which can bridge between the native and fruiting varieties. Can anyone assist? Or know someone who can? I have cut down a large native cherry and would like to graft lapins and stella to the sprouts which are sure to come up this spring. Just as long as they are hardy enough for your zone, there is nothing to do except water and fertilize them adequately till frost. I just picked the cherries from our 2 trees last Saturday. One is a dwarf Stella and the other is also dwarf but I can't remember the name. The Stella is the better producer for me. I picked about 3kg of cherries this year, but I had 9kg last year and about 13kg the year before. Apart from a little tanglefoot applied in early spring to control the ants & aphids, I've never had any problems with other insects or diseases.

I won't claim to be an expert but I do have some experience with avocado trees. I do know you need 2 avocado trees to pollinate the blooms to produce fruit. I started my trees from seed in the early spring of 2009, so they've been through 2 seasons of growth. They are about 3-4 feet high, have multiple branches, and this is the first year they are expected to bloom. I've noticed a few budding blooms on both trees already and I hope they produce fruit. They will not survive outside during the winter so make sure they have a sunny window to hang out by during the cold months. Avocado trees are a tropical tree so don't overwater, and you might have to provide shelter if there are too many days of rain. Good luck and I'll post in a few months if there are any fruit.

I'm sitting here stuck with what answers I can give you if you don't know the questions. Please it's not a put down. While I've been doing it for years you make it sound as something completely new to you. If you get the chance you can look up what are shall we dissuctions in hydroponic section under The Dark Garden or look up Photobucket/ChristianWarlock there are eight years of picture by season there. The last three years I've been playing in the garden and have quite a few things to show. I grow the Durian fruit hydroponicaly from seed. I get a second season of apples hydroponically because I have a greenhouse. And yes there's a trick to both. But both work because their organic.... get my drift?
