inkberry shrub disease?
Comments (5)I guess I am a novice at all this. If I cut them back how far? The entire mulch bed does not get wet but a portion of it does every day. I thought Inkberrys took lots of moisture? I do feel as if it will take lots to bring them back or to protect the others that are starting to loose leaves. I have no control over the water, everyone is on the same schedule, not on an individual basis. I wonder why it took so long for them to get this way since the watering has been the same each year. Wonder if it is more insect or fungal related. If I cut the branches they will grow back? Thanks again, Julyguy...See Morebushes turning black
Comments (3)bboy: It has been cold and wet and right now we're having another bout of it! Enough is enough I say. I thought that the amount of rain and cold we've had lately might have had something to do with it. Thanks ken: We haven't had a frost lately but we are getting some bitterly cold north winds. The last few days were nice but I guess the next few are going to be cold and wet again. I knew frost could damage a plant but didn't realize how much. Thanks. Thanks for the tips guys. Comments (6)Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention the berries were spherical and always shiny, even when black, so that rules out both Capsicum & Viburnum species shown. I think I would have remembered if the berries were purple at one point, too, so that mostly rules out Capsicum. I did find a pic of (supposedly) Solanum nigrum online that had red berries, though there were conflicting captions on the photo. Maybe my mystery bush was Solanum nigrum after all, or maybe some other species of Solanum. Here is a link that might be useful:...See Morerose bush turning black
Comments (11)i have yet to pull up the one that looks dead, just pruned it a lot. it isn't sitting in a pool of water. my roses on the other side of the house look good. they are facing the same sunlight. it has been dying ever since we put in a trellis behind them. the roses on the other side do not have trellises. the trellises are plastic. i pulled up the branches and tied them to the trellis. have not been sprayed. no freeze or snow. getting water though. it doesn't look like stem canker. have not tested the soil. the soil is rocky but should be good soil. i had pine mulch on them over the winter. these bushes are are 3 years old. they all have had some problems with black spot, not really bad though. i pulled it up and it looks like a normal root system. i had transplanted one several weeks ago, and it is doing fine, and the root system on the dead rosebush looks the same. i don't know what you mean concrete or glue soil. just good ole oklahoma soil....See Moregrammytmc
