Rose Curculio - how do I get rid of them

I found an actual weevil on my Alexander MacKenzie rose bush and lilies and I'm more than a little concerned. I am just learning about gardening and I'm not sure if I caught the problem in time and how to treat it. I also have a number of rose buds that have been bored and chewed and have obvious larval stages. The rose leaves and buds are the only things affected right now but I have found them in my asiatic lily. My questions are...

1. How do I get rid of these bugs? Is insecticidal soap sufficient?

2. Can they infect other plants? I have tiger lilies, asiatic lilies, obedience, liatris and daffodils.

Are you certain they're damaging the lily? I ask because I thought they're specific to the Rosaceae family.

That's the thing... the only damage is on the roses. I got the lilies from a friends garden and she says that she has the same beetle and calls them a japanese beetle. (I thought they were brown and green though). No damage to the lilies in her garden either but the beetles seem to move into the lilies and just sit there on the stem at the base of a leaf.

Those pinholes do look like flea beetle damage but I haven't found any flea beetles. These beetles are much larger (about the size of a Japanese beetle) and fly, don't jump. I suspect they are causing the large holes in the peppers. They seemed to disappear after the rain, but they're back today. Hope these are better pix: Damage They seem to like to burrow in the bark mulch - I wonder if they came in with it, or maybe the grubs were in our soil anyway? I'm wondering if mulching with newspaper covered with grass clippings would be better? Though we have used bark mulch for years with no problem?

floral, Asclepias syriaca can be a prolific spreader; the other varieties are much better behaved. All I can see is that they have a pinnate leaf. So not Boysenberry and definitely not Daucus carota. Possible candidates are Sumac, Ailanthus and Aruncus. If you can take closer pictures and post either here, or better still on the Name That Plant Forum, you'll get an id in short order. Then you can decide what to do with it. If it is not an invasive alien species I would think long and hard about what you'd put there instead if you choose to eradicate. At present it is doing n efficient job of ground cover.

I saw one in my Perle D’or and according to the insect app it’s the oriental beetle (not the Japanese beetle) ...I usually let beetles be in the garden but this time I didn’t want to risk to have another pest on roses. I found another today on the Havana Blues geranium...same fate, cup of soapy water ah well. Okay. It's time to figure who's where and what, if anything, to do.

Rose curculio and Japanese beetle are *very* different, with the later a humongous creature when compared to the curculio.
