It's not as simple as stating that your turn-over rate should be once an hour...or twice an hour. the problem is that your turnover rate needs to be appropriate for your filters. If your turnover rate does not allow the water to remain in the filter long enough, bioconversion of ammonia won't happen. So a fast turnover is not necessarly a good thing. But a slow turnover rate is bad too. As a general rule, a pond must be turned over at least once an hour. Smaller ponds need a higher turnover rate. We will need to know a lot more about your filters before we can establish an appropriate turn-over rate. Also, as Comettose said, your pond is really very small for koi. Koi get bit....up to 36" long!! With your small pond, they won't even be able to turn around. Koi also produce a lot of waste. Most koi keepers suggest a stocking rate of at least 300 gallons per koi, with a minimum pond size of 1000 gallons. Many koi keepers use a stocking rate more like one koi per 500 gallons, or even one koi per 1000 gallons! Your pond is really better suited for goldfish. If you simply must have koi, stick with longfins. Longfins do not get as large as regular koi and seem to be a bit hardier. Still only get a couple though.

Perhaps a Faucaria and a Haworthia (or Aloe?) together in a pot? It would be helpful to ID the plants. If the lower leaves on Faucaria are soft that is often due to overwatering although the lower leaves do slowly die off naturally. If the new leaves are soft it will usually be underwatering although possibly the roots have rotted off. Don't rush to water them, they will survive a lot longer being underwatered than overwatered. I would suspect that the soil they are in is unsuitable if it is what they came in. This is a good excuse to dig up the plants and check they are healthy below ground. Then you can replant them in soil with better drainage and less peat and they might live long enough to flower. If your plants have healthy roots and no obvious mushy patches of rot, you can replant, then give them a light watering after a week or so. Don't allow Faucarias to stay completely dry for too long, the roots don't like it and may die. They can grow new roots but are more likely to just rot because the soil will stay wet and you will keep watering them because they are soft. But they may become dormant in hot humid weather and will not want much water, it can be a balancing act. Here in England they just stay out in the rain all summer and keep growing.

Where did you get you coco palm? I do wonder though what variety it is. My coconut is still less green. The new leaf is way greener, but not as green as yours. Only in places it is. I do have a new frond though that may be a darker green. Right now its a single spear about 68% up from the center.

Eleven years ago when we moved here, the light company trimmed my big palm out front to where there was only one frond left. I was so upset, but it came back, and it is now taller than the electric lines. And just to let you know, it really isn't necessary to trim up palms twice a year. I have around 20 palms which I get trimmed only every 2 to 3 years. Many of those brown fronds that look dead are still supplying nourishment to the tree, so it is beneficial to keep them on for some time rather than cutting them everytime a brown frond shows up. Remember the palm is a monocot, basically a big blade of grass, so the constant trimming is not recommended. Before you let them cut down your palms, you might want to contact the Texas Forest Service to see if they can tell you what your legal rights are. Also you might want to contact the City of Spring along with your power provider to see if you can get some additional information. When you call, ask for someone in management that can give you correct information. Good luck.
