Serious ant problem - can't kill them

Last year, I noticed two large ant hills in my yard. And I mean large. I tried Sevin and some other insecticide on them (can't remember what it was) and they had no effect. This year I have FIVE. These hills are big. They're about two feet across and 8 - 10 inches high. The ants themselves look like 'normal' black ants but are larger than a typical house ant.

They are sucking all the moisture out of the ground around the hills and weakening my landscape plants. I also tried Terro traps eariler this spring with no effect that I could see whatsoever.

I know there used to be effective ant poisons, but the ones I knew about (Dursban, etc) have apparently been banned for homeowner use.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get rid of these? They've gone from being an eyesore and annoyance to a serious infestation. I don't want to screw around here -- I've apparently been doing that for a year and the problem is just worse. I want to nuke them out of existence.

Thanks, Rick.
