Prayers Answered: Reed Starts A New Job Monday

As many of our forum members know, Reed lost his job a few weeks ago. Forum members here were quick to respond with encouraging words and with prayers.

This afternoon, Reed asked me to share with you all the very good news that he has a new job, which he begins on Monday. He especially wanted me to thank everyone here for being so kind, caring and compassionate during this difficult period. He so appreciates all the encouragement and support.

I'll leave all the details of the new job for Reed to share with y'all later. Being a wise man, he cancelled his internet service when he lost his job and they needed to tighten up the budget for a while until he had found another job. As soon as he is able, he'll be back here to engage in garden chat.

Once again, on Reed's behalf, thank you all for the many kind words and the compassionate support. They meant so much to him.

The folks here are the best!

Dear Sweet Princess Mimi !!!! ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ (((((((((( YOU )))))))))))))))))))))) me waving @ U and Me Hugg'n ~~~ u !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***** My Heart Goes out to you during this time of sadness and pain and loss...... It Is Shocking ! ! ! been there.... done that.. got the T-Shirt... and decided to throw the T-Shirt away.... cause I did not want to be reminded of it....ho ho *** No seriously... My DH was Shocked that after 17 years at one company the Company... let All the Drivers go.. with only 2 weeks pay. My DH was the #3 Driver... out of 55 He was really upset.. but... the # 1 Driver got so upset that he had a heart attack!!!!!!!!!! sooooooo while we were SHOCKEd.... and sad.... We had to just say..... "GOD KNOWS ! ! !" it was very hard for DH cause he does NOT like change... and our oldest son had just died in a Truck roll over accident... and we had just moved from TEXAS up to Wisconsin to be near DH 's Dad who was ill... and He passed away ! While... Darling Daughter's hubby left her and she had just found out that she was going to have a baby ! *** sorry if it sounds like I made this up... DH does have a new job ... now but... as you well know.. like your DH... the trucking industry is extremely SLOW and just cut back to almost Scary !!!! *** I'm telling you this to tell you.... That I just had to try to get a grip on All of these.... " THINGS ! ! !" so........ I started reading " THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE" book by Pastor Rick Warren.... It helped me then... to handle these things. and it is continuing to help me today ! ! ! and the Purpose Driven Life and Reading My B I B L E ~~~~ Daily.... and with the help of my Super Special Friends here at the Garden Web... Garden Junkers.... I Am indeed ~ ~ ~ going to make it !!!!!!!! ONE DAY AT A TIME !!!!!!!!! With A Little ~~~ B \* U \* N \* C \* H of Help from my friends.... but... It was a bunch to handle... at one time ! But I am Learning. It's Not All About My Happiness... I had to get way out of my COMFORT ZONE !!!!! \*\*\*\* My Darling Daughter Had her Baby... They are living with me... Basic answer to your question,Gesila, I work for one of the companies that, in essence, Miss Dig Colorado (Dial 811!) gives the site information to. One of our locators will go to the site, find and mark the underground lines, and then I go QC a certain percentage of them. I've seen very few mature hosta outside of pictures, so this makes it extra wonderful. I better pay attention when I'm at these private residences; These hosta kept trying to distract me all week! I was also thinking this could be a great opportunity to help Bob Axmear and The Hosta Library out, because I already saw a few I couldn't I.D. if I had a gun to my head. So maybe I can post some pics here, get 'em identified, and e-mail Mr. Axmear some he might need for the photofiles. I guess I badly underestimated how many people here in Colorado have hosta. All I have to do is walk around in their backyards and see! ; ) Regards, Don B.

Belle, your pond is wonderful. What a great project and I love the little knome sitting there with his feet kicked up. Where does it feed from? I love to garden so this picture is right up my alley so to speak. It reminds me of our cabin, can't imagine having something like that in my yard. Woohoo Please post more pictures of it and the rest of your yard thoughout the year. Our son is putting in an indoor foutain in his new home he's building. If I was you and wanted to paint on a rock I'd grab some of them and paint away. Like Luvs was saying the different animals would be phenomenal as accents. Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping, painter Anj? Did you get any painting done? I sure hope so. I just figured out why I'm not getting as much painting done. I'm spending to much time yaking on here.ha ha Have you been able to catch up on a little sleep this weekend? I can't believe how I never want to get up Mon-Fri and Sat and Sun my feet can't hit the floor fast enough in the mornings. Not sure if it's the painting or shopping that gets me racing. Paintgirl, I live in Montana. I was born in Gillette, WY and moved with family to MT where I started 1st grade. DH and family are from here and he's never wanted to venture away so we'll retire here and spend the rest of our lives. I have a DH of 35 years and he cuts all my wood for painting projects. I have a son who is 31 and a daughter who is 29. They both own their own cell phone business. DS has a son (7) and DD has a daughter (3) so I'm Nana to 2 special GC. It will be years before I will be a great grandmother but congrats to you, honey. Not everyone accomplishes that in a life time. I am so thankful for all my blessings in life. Life is what we make it. Luvs, I'll think on something about a mess for your DH. It could be fun as long as we don't upset him. How's his sense of humor? Mine is not a messy person but he doesn't clean. Maybe I only had the 2 little pigs living with me all those years.LOL Can't wait to see your tray. I have no desire to go out and paint a tray so I think they will be on hold for a couple of months. The sun has peeked out the last couple of days but it must not of liked what it saw cuz it's hiding most of the day. Soon it will be nice enough to go out and play. GD wanted me to go jump on the trampoline with her yesterday and I said NO WAY that wind was frigid. What are you and GD playing? Does she like your painted projects? Mine will come in and pick from my finished ones and ask if she can take it home. Guess you know she's never been told no. DD wants the blue stocking and GD wants the mulicolored one so don't know who'll win on that but for now it's still here. GTG Punk

Good morning Anj, good to hear from you. SNOW! No way! DH and I have both said that before we travel, we will really have to keep an eye on the weather--never dreamed your area would get snow before month end at the earliest! The first one always looks sorta pretty, doesn't it? But having to deal with it gets old quickly, huh? Glad you survived the sleepover. How do you get the boys and your little one to let big sister and her friends have some privacy? Or do they get to join in on everything? Don't you hate it when an appliance quits on us? And always right when we need it the most. At least you can run down and use your Mom's. Guess I know what you will be shopping for soon. It's especially bad if most appliances were bought at the same time cause then they tend to have to be replaced around the same time! Did you get your tires taken care of? DH says we need to replace the ones on our little jeep. It's our tow vehicle for behind the motor home, so the tires get more wear. We already replaced the ones on the motor home last year. I've not really been painting either, just trying to finish up those little signs. I thought my decorations outside looked pretty nice, until the Santa Anna winds out of the east came last night! LOL We always get them in October and they always blow my garland and stuff off ! I really feel bad for the couple down at the end of the street, because allot of the leaves pile up there. It was DIL's birthday this time, little GD's isn't until May. It went well, and as usual, little one didn't want to go home! Gma needed for her too though--I'd had her Friday all day, then from Saturday afternoon until about 5:30 yesterday, so I was pretty tired. I keep trying to get her to play more by herself, but she thinks that Gma is supposed to play with her. And she never wants to go to sleep at night, then wakes up early next morning too! LOL She's had a cough and stuffy nose, so now I'm getting it too I think--or maybe mine is just from all the stuff in the air from the winds--but I'm coughing and stuffy too. Well, DH wanted to go to the Fairplex to the RV show. I'm not gung ho about it, don't need anything and sure don't want him getting any ideas about newer motor homes! But if he wants, I guess we can go for awhile. Maybe we'll have lunch out too. I'll check in again later. Get as much rest as you can, you need it. Good day to just curl up with a warm blanket and watch old movies. ;o) Luvs

That is terrific news about Ken's new job! I'm so happy for him and for you too. Please tell him congratulations from Tim and I. What a wonderful week this has been for everyone looking for jobs. I'm so glad. After a couple of weeks of wicked weather, we needed something happy to cheer about!

Thank you guys for all of your support and prayers. I was fortunate to receive a management position with Family Dollar Corporation. To sum it up, the benefits and pay are substantially better and the opportunity for advancement is much higher. I am so excited I may not sleep tonight. Thank you all so much. As I am using my phone I won't be posting much but I just wanted to thank everyone.

Reed - sounds like you've deserving earned a position with a solid company. Great news!!! My DH's is a similar thing. LIke Dawn said - after all Oklahoma has experienced in the last several weeks....we ALL need some good news.

And on top of all this, ya wanna hear some really funny stuff? We had to have our roof replaced after the Shawnee/Bethel Acres storm. We had really LARGE hail. We found a great roofing company that did a superb job and their guarantee was better than all the rest. They included a bid for our guttering...which we told them we had to delay due to other repairs needed that weren't storm related. All this happened this week but there were some breaks in communication because as of Friday nite - we discovered we had new guttering on both sides of our BARN/GARAGE!!!!! Not what was bid or what we asked for but it's there. Our roofer told us to enjoy the free guttering.

And then we went to Sam's yesterday. Hubby dropped me off at the door and then went to park. Shortly, he called me on the cell to ask if I wanted a FREE tropical hibiscus. Duh? Yes! Well, we ended up with 2....and all they needed was some water and a pot big enough to let their roots spread. One even opened a bloom today!

So this week, DH got a new job...we got new, FREE guttering on our garage...and we scored 2 free pretty hibiscus. Is this a great State or what?

Reed, Once again, congratulations! We are so happy for you and Tim wanted me to be sure to tell you congratulations from him too. I hope you can sleep tonight because you'll be a busy man tomorrow.

Paula, Woo hoo! After all that you and your extended family went through with both the Norman-to-Shawnee severe thunderstorms and tornado, and then the Moore tornado a few days later, y'all deserve to have some happy surprises too, you know. With the luck y'all are having this past week, maybe you ought to buy a lottery ticket or two.

The sunshine always follows the rain, you know, and we see that happening with all the good news lately. Our gray skies are sunny again....literally and figuratively.

Thank you guys for all your prayers and well wishes. I won't say much about the new job other than the fact that the pay and benefits are significantly better than my previous job and I will be serving at my own boss in a management position in a national company. Thank you guys so much for all your concerns and thoughts. It was nice to have the support of this group in such a troubling time. Thanks again.

I'm glad we could all encourage you and pray for you through this - you know we would have kept it up if it had taken longer, but...YAY! It didn't :-)
