photo? Not sure what you are referring to as a seed pod. These trees make hanging inflorescences, which eventually develop into a huge number of red fruits, which have a single seed inside each one nearly as large as the fruit (entire fruit is a little smaller than your typical marble). If you peel away the thin soft layer of fruit, you will find what is the seed pod inside (a small, spherical brown nut) and inside that is the seed. These pods do NOT open on their own- they germinate from within the pods (or sometimes in an animal's gut). Usually there are many many hundreds of fruits per inflorescence. So not sure what you are referring to when you say you see two seed pods.....?

Sorry, i dont think im using the right terminology when i said seed pods.
i know how these trees produce the fruit with seeds in them but ive never actually seen the two in my backyard do it before.
Ive only ever seen trees with the fruit all exposed and i just assumed it started like how mine look in the photo.

That is called a Spathe. The flower will emerge from the spathe and produce fruit in under a year i suppose, just a guess lol. Im assuming you want to propagate the seeds?

if they grow ill give it a go lol.

Well just keep doing what your doing be patient and the seeds will form in no time.

Butia's take typically 3 months from the moment they open for the seeds to ripen. Not sure what the time frame is for other palms as I have not observed them.
