something Weird Happening with my Birds
Comments (3)Either they're lying low in the heat, or something has frightened them off. If you're in a rural to semi-rural area, it could be a predator bird like a hawk or a predator animal like a bobcat. It could even be a feral/wild formerly domesticated kitty. Could be something like a ring-tailed cat, raccoon or possum. Could be a snake slithering around trying to eat the bird eggs. There's lots of possibilities. Our feeder birds are feeding extremely early in the morning and extremely late in the evenings...just before sunrise and right before or even after sunset and otherwise are not very visible. I think they're just trying to lie low and say cool. Be sure you have a water source for them. Our two birdbaths and large man-made wildlife puddle are getting plenty of visits from thirsty birds and small animals. Also, even birds that generally visit feeders and eat the bird seed will spend more time hunting for insects to feed to their babies when they have nestlings. The time they spend doing that may be preventing them from coming to your feeders....See Morenighttime treatment for stuffy nose
Comments (18)I had the allergies and used the sprays, but it seemed wierd how it only happened that at night I would get even stuffier! WELL! Old age collapses some nerve endings in your nose and sort of closes of your passages. After I had my deviated septum fixed with surgery, and as part of that fix, she fixed my TERMINATES (that's the scientific term), I started breathing much better through the night. Yay! AND. Not only that, I just plain old started to be able to breathe better! All of a sudden, my old appetite returned! I especially remember that I had lost my interest in eggs, but then, on being able to smell them again, it's all that I wanted. Go to a good ENT specialist. they are not all alike. I have done very well by "shopping" for doctors... ask them a few pointed questions and see if they can help you with your specific problem!...See MoreRefinishing wood floor, weird peeling advice
Comments (11)Correct me if im wrong, but I don't believe that floor is pre-finish it could have been at one time, but it looks like its been sanded. Murphy's can leave residue, but from you're first picture, it looks more like poor adhesion of the top coat of finish. The diagonal planks you see in the basement is your subfloor. Your Oak hardwood floors are nailed to it. Refinishing can be messy. this is where you job comes into play and seek out many professional to give bids. No professional worth his weight will charge for a bid. When you do, make sure you ask as many detailed questions as possible, and make sure they are specific about their process...meaning do they hang plastic? what brand of finish of stains and urethanes do they use. How many coats will be applied. Roughly their time frame to complete job. Will they remove baseboards? Shoe moulding? will they replace bad boards? will they address squeeking? Some of those will be a surcharge, but its better to ask and have them at least bid it, so you know going into it what you're getting. Im in the Midwest, so I cant say what east coast prices are. but best way to figure out, is to get those bids....See MoreElevated raised bed done! Nighttime gardening...
Comments (12)bossyvossy... The only chemical I use is this:It works and is the only thing Ive found to deter pests here in Florida. First couple of seasons I have gardened here, aphids and mites were problems for me. Tried many things and this hit a home run. Sure its not ideal at all but it works. Outside of this Im organic... Try it, it really works....See MoreMarie Tulin
