Here in Tulsa, it's mainly been blowing gale force this morning but the rain is really coming down now. Got my potatoes in the ground yesterday, so they're getting watered in well!

I planted potatoes yesterday, too. I am in Norman, where I have been afraid they will blow right out of the ground!

Leslie, Hooray for the rain! So, now y'all have had rain at least twice this year, right? Maybe it will be a much better rainfall year for y'all than 2011 was.

Carol, We only had the really gusty wind for about an hour as the cold front rolled through. Before the cold front got here, it was around 65 degrees at our house, and in less than an hour we'd dropped to 46 degrees. I can tell you that the 65 with low wind felt great, and the 46 with some gusty wind doesn't feel nearly as nice! Those taters you planted should be happy about today's rain.

Donna, If your potatoes blow out of the ground, I want to see photos of them flying through the air.

We've only seen little sprinkles and a couple of brief showers so far, but I've looked at the radar and know more is coming.

I was working in the garden transplanting voluneer chamomile plants from pathways to raised beds and it was perfect weather. I heard thunder and saw a flash of lightning and my perfect morning in the garden ended.

We all need the rain, so I am not complaining. I hope everyone gets some rain today, and especially the parts of the state that are still in the various stages of drought.

reminds me of the poem, itsis raining, its pouring. for some reason that poem gives me a good feeling from childhood.

after this rain it might be easier using my cobra head. it was easy the first day i used it but as the ground got harder it was not so easy.

i am spending the day reading.

I sure hope so. Right now, we're at over 3 inches for the year and that's about 3 inches more than we had last year at this time. And we've got rain in the forecast until Saturday, so that number's just going to grow. It's really making me believe that this year will be much better than last.

Only got .3 inch here so far. I spent the morning in the greenhouse potting up tomatoes and broccoli. Finally got chilled even with a small heater running and came in.

I have made short trips outside doing chores, but at 37 degrees and now a light mist falling, it is cold. We have only had about a quarter inch of rain, but it looks like we will get a little more. Looks like the heavy rain will miss us though.

Yesterday, we left early in the morning and got home late at night and I was thinking that I am never here to harden off my plants. Either I have been gone, or it has been too cold or had too much wind. This morning I was glad they were tucked safely inside. Brrr..

It rained here all day and even sleeted some. I went and checked on the broccoli plants and they are all there and all good. A little spindly, but hanging in there. :)

After the rain stopped (only about 0.3" here) this afternoon I went out and planted the bareroot strawberry plants that arrived on Monday. Between the fridge crisper and the cold ground I figured they would prefer being in the ground. It took awhile to regain feeling in my poor extremities by the time I was done, though. Brrr!

wet and cold here today. I didn't even take my plants outside. I have been gone most of the day, we must have got over an inch of rain and the ground almost covered with hail, a little under marble size.

I was in and out all day depending on whether rain was falling or not. Not much fell because we had a dry slot move over us. Our chance of rainfall today is fairly slim, but much higher for Saturday and Sunday. The wind chill was worse than the actual temperature. I was working in the garden and it was 65 degrees, and then the cold front roared in with high wind and it dropped to 46 degrees in less than an hour. I came right inside because thunder rumbling and I saw lightning one time. Once is all it takes and I scurry inside,

Leslie, I am so glad y'all have had such good rainfall this year. I really believe we're going to have a good spring, and I hope that extends to the summer as well.
