Oh wow that's a lot going on. I hope all involved recuperate quickly and especially your mom. I know once that point was reached for mom the doctors said no way was she living alone, they ordered her into a facility.

That is a tough position to be in and I hope your Aussie sister is better soon. Sounds like at least broken ribs and that is so painful. It is hard enough to care for aging parents, and I sure understand about your brother not being much help. I went thru that with my brother.

That sure is a lot to deal with. Sending good thoughts to your Mom and Sister. Maybe you will feel better going to visit and getting the condo cleared out and sold sooner than later. Good luck Moni.

Moni, so sorry for the situation. I know you are worried and want to do something but just remember that your Mom is in a safe place and your sis will heal--just needs some time. Take a deep breath. Good thoughts for your family.

Moni, I hope things get stabilized soon with your Mom and with your Aussie sister's injuries. The most serious issue, your Mom's health, is being taken care of now, and perhaps the condo can wait until all are feeling up to it. Oh dear. Moni, You do lead an interesting life, but this is a bit too much!
Apparently, your Australia Sis is out of danger and will be able to care for herself, but is not in condition to be of help In Germany for a few weeks. From my far away perch, it seems that your Mom needs family to close out her condo and the job is best handled by you and your German Sis. I have not a clue about German domestic law. I assume they would require that one of you to have power of attorney to legally sell your mother's condo. Your mother at age 87 needs help.

I almost forgot, do not leave this country until your papers (passport) are in good order. Check immunization requirements for returning. The way Trump and gang is messing with incoming travelers, Germany could be declared a terrorist country before you get back. Sadly, this is not a joke.

Oh, Moni, that is so much on your plate right now, and all from afar! My mother was forced to move in with my sister when we realized the woman who served herself 3 squares plus chocolate every day, was not eating. It has worked out well enough, but we think she's fading at 96.

Is there a hurry in selling her condo? If possible, German sis (and bro?) should get over there and take home anything valuable, including financial records. Maybe there isn't the worry of robbery of vacant homes in Germany?

Your Aussie sis is very brave and capable to get herself home again! Has the doctor told her how long she should wait before traveling?

I'm sorry for all you're going through. Jemdandy makes a good point, unfortunately.

I am thinking what the others have already said. The best thing I know todo is keep you and your family in my prayers.

i'm so very sorry...please have your mom sign everything she can...I have no idea how german law but by fil signing his own papers, it saved us about 40 grand in bills...and sad to say jemdandy had the saddest but best advice...don't know about nursing/rest homes in Europe but it can be really depressing...so if you can come here for a hug now and then...do youhave anyone to watch the house and esp stop your mail delivery....

Jemdany, you bring up a good point... but as an naturalized citizen, aka, American Citizen I don't think I will have a problem coming back home. ;) I do have a current passport "of course".

My sister just started a new job in October. Not much chance for taking time off. The idea was, to take that burden off her shoulders, as she handles just about everything else.

She has power of attorney and all other needed papers... for mom, and even all powers over mine and the Aussie sisters bank accounts. It's best to have one in country to be able to handle things. I will close everything out over there, this time.

Yes, I have Mel here, he will check on my house whenever he is in town, usually at least twice in three weeks. Got a couple other friends that have a key, and will look in as well.

Just saw your second post so had to go searching for the first one. You are right, when it rains, it pours! Lots going on and it's so difficult when you're so far away. Glad your sister doesn't have anything broken. The light at the end of the tunnel will be seeing family.

I too just saw your post about your sister. So glad she's ok and that you will both be able to travel to Germany to check on your Mother and help with future decisions. Safe travels to you all.
