Off topic Word of Caution

The other day when GardenWeb was messed up a little, I changed my address to allow everyone to see it that needed to write to me during the swap. I had a hard time getting it to change back, but it finally worked.

Since that time I have received 6 or 7 scam messages claiming to be my internet provider and asking for my password and birthday and such. I have never had that happen before, so I feel certain it was harvested from here. Just be aware that those scams are happening and don't fall for them.

I hate to bump this message but I feel I need to add a little info.

My computer is in the shop, has been for about 5 days. I have also recieved messages that can only tie back to this forum, or emails connected. My wifes info is not even known to my family. I dont even open the mail.

Yes, I'm going to add a check valve to prevent that from happening again. I have a check valve in the public water line, I just never got around to adding one on the well. I checked my water meter Klem, It appears that my foot valve is in good condition, I only used/lost 200 gallons, I've got 800 more gallons before I have to pay any extra!

Thank you! Yes, Maia's litter was planned... we've had people begging us to make a breeding, so every pup she gives birth to already has a home. I suspect she won't have enough to cover the "wanted list". I am eager to see how well she produces, though! I just might keep one for myself... depending on how many she has and what they look like. If they favor her, I'd definitely want one... if they favor the sire... well, it would be a nice dog, but not the body style I prefer. It seems like only yesterday Maia was a baby... yes, these little balls of energy and fur sure do grow up fast! The surprising thing about the bulbs I lost is that they were all common varieties from the cheaper kit purchases I made... Red Lion and Apple Blossom. I'm not sure why... weak genetics? Are they being over-cloned/over-produced? I don't really know what to think, but there it is. Lizalily, I hope your foot heals well and fast. Be careful of not overdoing anything! I've been in sad shape on and off all summer... I keep over-working myself, and then I suffer... it's my own fault, but there's so much to do! I really can't afford to take too many rest days! I'm not sure what sort of winter we're in for... I hope mild and dry... that would help immensely! We had so much rain this past spring and summer... a mild winter would help everything survive, and it would sure make me feel better! Thanks for the good wishes... I'm on top of the bulb thing now, and plan to finish up the re-potting as soon as I get a new supply of granite chips and pine bark in. With all this to do, all the tulips and daffodils that need planting, all the winterizing I need to do in the gardens, and Maia getting ready to give birth... it's gonna be a busy autumn and winter!

Well this is interesting.....I wonder whats in the costco soil........I bought a bag of that many years ago and my plants did NOT do well in it......so I never bought soil there again......that must of been about 8 years ago. I use pro-mix. Ya I know its more expensive but I know it works well for my plants, and it doesn't smell. I usually us a starter mix from the nursery, but this year they didn't have it out when I needed to start some things and I didn't have any left from last year.....so I tried some from walmart.....what I found was that damp off was a problem with it.....and also it dried out fast and packed down.......So I finished off a bag of promix #4 and then bought another pro mix #1 for starting things. I also fill all my planters with this except for the half barrels. As for finding glass in it....Take it back and demand a refund...even if its a credit. That is terrible and dangerous. As for the names why would it matter...we are just sharing our finds, we arn't selling anything. Candles are cheap at walmart. LOL!!! Sierra :-))

This isn't a manufacture's issue. Both are UL listed. That's enough certification for 99% of the USA. It's not the manufacturer's problem that your locality requires overkill paperwork to issue the proper permits. That's your GC's problem, and that's one of the ways they earn their money. So, make him earn his money by going over the local inspector's head to ask why a UL listing isn't good enough. In some older buildings, the inspector may be correct that even a residentially UL listed gas appliance of that amount of BTU's won't work because not enough gas pressure is available. Or, perhaps the location you anticipate installing it has issues with its sprinkler system and thus no high BTU appliances would be approved. There are a few legitimate reasons for denying you your choice for your remodel, but you have to communicate with the powers that be a bit better and find out exactly what the issue is.

I think mine was set the same as yours, Carol, at about the same time so someone could email me. I forgot to change it back so will do so now. I've not had any strange messages, though.

Larry, from the Oklahoma Gardening page, go to the bottom and find 'member services page'. From there choose "Edit Your Personal info..........."

Near the bottom mark "Show my email address to : NONE
but leave the block checked that says "Allow other users..."

I tried, will see what happened.

This is the only site I have used,and only emailed 2 people on the forum. It is the only site that has linked me to my wife's email, and I dont know anyone named Henry Cook.

Since I'd had so many problems receiving e-mails from this site...I went in and amended mine too. So thanks, Carol, for the heads up.

I'm posting to see if the changes help my page..we'll see. I sure HATE that the moderators here can't help us with this problem since their garden gnomes seem to go haywire wayyyyyy too much.

Yeh...Larry....you & me and probably others are in the same boat. Didn't help. Maybe we need to e-mail the administrator of the site?

I've not had any junk mail problems though...yet.
