A word of caution regarding BlueStar & DCS

We are in the process of rebuilding our demolished kitchen in New York City. We have the BlueStar salamander and a DCS wok. Although our plans were approved by the NYC Buildings Dept, the plans have been rejected by the plumbing inspector as he feels that the BlueStar salamander and DCS wok are not suitable for residential use and require an Ansul fire suppression hood (much as commercial equipment does). The DCS manual states that the wok is for residential use only and that the warranty is void with commercial use. The BlueStar salamander installation brochure makes not such statements (at least I can't find them) and calls to Tech Support at BlueStar have been futile. The Bluestar salamander is listed as approved for residential use by UL, but that doesn't seem to satisfy the NYC authorities. Those residing in NYC seeking to install these products in their homes should think twice before purchasing them.
