I remembered my camera ... I just forgot to take PICTURES! Agree on Penzeys -- GREAT spices! (Their gift boxes make terrific gifts, too -- they use bay leaves and cinnamon sticks as "packing" around the jars.) The store in Norwalk is fun to wander through (there's a small one at Grand Central, too, now, if you happen to be headed for NYC any time soon). I love the variety of cinnamons they stock. Ethnic markets often have things like cardamon at very reasonable prices, too. I use a lot of it over the holidays in baking, mulled drinks, etc. I do find it better to buy more often, and buy less (tempting, price-wise, as the larger quantities can be!) I make a cardamon cookie at Christmas and boy, can I tell the difference when I make it with newly purchased spices versus the ones in the cabinet from the previous year!! Wow! 100 posts!! I've been checking in to see when the next get together will be. Bustin my hump outside!! I have a "Real Garden"!! We had dirt brought in to cover the rock ledges and (so far) it's looking great. It's so dry though. I've been watering in the evening because the morning sun hits directly on the garden. Is this the "right" thing to do? I grew many tomatoes from seed and have plenty to fill in the row for ones that are dying. I'm not sure if it's because it's so dry or what's going on. I have a yellow squash bloom and a zuccini!! So exciting! The plants really don't look established enough for it to have happened already. I also made more or a decorative garden or kitchen garden. I have some bamboo teepees and morning glory seeds planted around them. If anyone needs 5 ft bamboo poles (they're the thin ones), I found mine at the Christmas Tree Store at the Shoppes at Montage (WOW!! That store is incredible for decorative things! I thought it would be Christmas things....not! I also bought a "Garden Party" rose bush for $3.99 and it's growing strong right out of the bag. (not a "collectible" rose or anything...but, it's a rose! Before I forget and my blooms die, I've got a few different colors of iris going on outiside. If anyone needs one, let me know. I can hold it for the next swap or even mail it. It should be safe to dig after the bloom dies, right? I have the light lavender color with the pale yellow vein (common) & a golden yellow with a burgandy veining. The lavender are larger blooms and the golden are medium sized. Now that things are growing nicely out of the ground, I think that I'll have more things to offer (if we'll be swapping again). Well, I'd better get ready to go, I'm off to the Dollar Tree and the Christmas Tree Store in the "big city" today! lol It's a big day!

Deb, I also want to thank you for hosting at your wonderful place .... and for the tour of your barn, house and gardens. What a spectacular view from that side lawn! I can just imagine the fabulous art gatherings that were held there many years ago .... who was that owner/artist again? I also left something behind.... a slotted spoon for the meatballs. Deb, could you bring the next time we meet? Jane, as soon as we got home, I took your Delphinium out of the plastic bag and planted it. Mother Nature has kindly taken care of the watering and so I'll wait for it to open. I forgot to ask you if you know the variety.... maybe yes? maybe no? Everything else will have to wait until the rain stops... maybe Wednesday. Hope everyone got home before the skies opened... Carl, you had one of the longest rides. Marty, I can't remember what I may have requested ... don't worry about it. I like your and other's suggestions of a summer soirée .... with bermuda shorts, summer hats and pearls, of course. It's not important to swap plants then, especially because transplanting can be "iffy" in the hotter weather. But it IS important that there'd be... ..... More great food. By the way, I'd love the Chicken Salad and Quiche recipes (email them to me?) .... Lots of fruits and salads... those were delicious .... Desserts of chocolate and peanut butter ....
