frankly .... you wont know until next spring .... i would keep watering.. PROPERLY ..... maybe do ONE scratch test .... scratching the bark.. to see if the cambian layer.. the green under the bark ... is still green ... if black.. its dead.. as this is the capillary system of the tree ... if its green .... the tree ... though dormant.. might come back ... in your zone.. it might even releaf... before winter ... but i dont really know ... ken

I've been collecting for about 8 or 9 years... but yes Will you are right, I moved here in Sept 07 and on a late whim I moved (mid-December) 20 or so plants from my previous home and left the rest. There's 6.1 acres with that woodland at the bottom of the property and I don't know (maybe 1/12 or 1/20) is that woodland. I would think I will be able to add around 1000+ trees and shrubs total. Jimhardy, I think that's Andy that lives in Livonia, MI. You can put me on your list. I'm in Grosse Ile, Michigan 48138. Weather.com says we're only supposed to get down to 34 degrees tonight, just as warm as the city of Detroit(luckily), while most other cities in our area are forecast to get down into the mid to upper 20s- Burrr! Although, the local weather man says I'm supposed to get down to 30, and the city is gonna get down to 32, so I'm not sure who to believe. Supposed to get close to record low temps tonight. I brought everything potted inside yesterday just to be on the safe side, even all my potted windmills. I'll usually leave them out through the upper 20s, but I figured leaving them out in the cold this late in the season would slow their growth back down again. Hope eveybody's bananas(and potted Roebellinis) make it through. Not really sure if my basjoo is still alive. I have a stump, seems very firm in the ground, but no signs of life yet.

One of the things I love about this kitchen forum is that I can see so many different styles. Sometime it reminds me of watching salsa dancing where you could watch 5 couples dancing and everyone is doing something a little different to make it their own. When I was working on my kitchen, I could look at pictures and see what things people did that called to me. One of the things I decided on based on the finished kitchen was going with taller crown molding. I didn't even know I liked it or wanted it (chuckle - this forum is great for finding things you didn't even know you wanted ) until I tried to figure out what it was about certain kitchens that appealed to me. Looking at the kitchen magazines aren't much help because they are showing the kitchen that is double my budget, double the space I have, and with whatever is the in trend that season. I like that we keep the finished kitchen thread nice. It is a celebration. You want to encourage people to post because it is helpful to the newcomers in figuring out your taste and style and really contributes to the sense of community. If I post that I really like X about someone's kitchen - then I really like X about their kitchen or I won't say anything. It's interesting because some of my favorite kitchens have been ones that I could never pull off but they had that something about them that was visionary.
