Abies nordmanniana - establishing in wet clay. The flatter the area's & the hillsides compared to steep slopes, that's where the firs are flourishing. On a southern steep slope facing north I'm struggling with Picea orientalis, Picea omorika, Abies x phanerolepis, Abies nordmannia have all died; the flourishing plantings are Picea pungens... (can anyone be of help and tell me what how well true cedars would perform with: wet, clay soil, clay that would sink if you stepped in it consuming your shoes or is slippery as falling down on ice... with a ph of 7.0)????? Many thanks ->

Abies koreana 'Nanaimo' - 6" (15 cm) a year violet blue cones. A 18 foot specimen is only 6' wide (6m x2m) and does not appear it will become a wide tree... nearly all the branches are the same distance/length growing horizontal from the trunk.

Picea abies 'Sherrie' - a rarity & a gem - found by my friend Keith Guess which he so graciously allowed me to name 3 of his (own) first-four discoveries which he brought to my home one winter evening during the grafting year, 2008. The others are: Pinus strobus 'Keokuk Koner'; Picea abies 'Brent Douglas' - Keith Named for his brother - a fallen soldier of the United States Armed Forces; also: Picea abies 'Chillin' Phil' which I named for, my father...

Named for my beautifully, kind-hearted Mom, Sherrie Herbst, Picea abies 'Sherrie':
