New garden, new opportunities!

Hi all!

I just dug up some red crape myrtles that had just too much pink in them to be really red. This opened up a possibility a new garden! I would like to put some of my Japanese maple collection up in this area.

Small problem: It is full sun. Period. No ifs ands or buts about it. We're talking 13 hours of sun in the summer and it's HOT HERE! So....

I'd like your opinion and experience. Please, please don't temper a response with "...xxx likes some afternoon shade" OK? The thought's nice, but it ain't gonna happen.

Now for your viewing pleasure, I'm going to post my list of possibilities below. Be warned that it's long! If you enjoy reading and drooling over maples, as I do, this thread could be for you.

Thank you in advance. I realize this could be a tall question!
