air flow in the root box?

hi all

i'm just starting out trying hydro toms, jalapeño peppers and lettuce. i live in Thailand and its freekin' hot at the moment.

i'm planning to build an aerospring system (plastic box with a spray head inside to deliver nutrient). i plan to keep the main nutrient reservoir underground where the temperature is a constant 28degC.

the question i have, is, should the plastic box growing tank be totally closed? i know that the roots need oxygen so would it make sense to cut a say 2x 4" holes in opposite sides of the growing box and use a small fan to provide a steady flow of air to the roots? or is all the oxygen provided by aerating the nutrient mixture?

thx steve
