Did you ever get an answer for this question? I'm wondering the same thing. There's an 800 number on aerogarden.com you can call. I might call them tomorrow and see what they say... I'll report back if I get an answer.

I was given an Annabelle Hydrangea and am having a hard time deciding where to plant it. We live in NW Ontario and are on the edge of zones 2 and 3. The north side of the house has no planting area, the east gets sun from about 5am to 4pm with no shade at all. The south side is similar, full sun and no shade. The west side has a large grouping of cedar trees which partially covers a garden. It gets late afternoon and evening sun. The only other place which I have considered is a small side yard which gets dappled sun most of the day but if planted there, the hydrangea would have little protection in winter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Trish

A Tekk, I'm curious if maybe the one LL that didn't do as well could have been bc it was "under a tree". Perhaps root competition made a difference? I'm not trying to be difficult. I only add my experience bc after reading threads where ppl insisted they need full sun to do well I ALMOST didnt plant mine. I am glad I ignored the advice and planted bc I honestly do not see much of a difference in my shrubs except, like I mentioned, the full sun LL's have already started changing to pink and my shade LL's are still green. I actually really like the green phase so I am preferring the shade planted shrubs. Obviously all shade is different but I know from my own experiences that some things planted closer to my trees arent quite as vigorous bc of root competition. Again, just adding this for future readers so they will not be discouraged from planting in less than full sun :)

This thread has come a long way ; The year was 2008. Bruce (esox07) and edymnion are two of the three familiar names to me. I, myself, was not then growing anything with more heat than Habanero. The topic ( Bhut best growing conditions ) has covered just about any issue about growing chili peppers, from seeds source, germination, growing under lights, potting soil,.. ..you name it. Bhut Jolokia is on my grow list in the future. Most people who have grown it , have described it as one of the tastiest super hots. Good reading stuff here. Seysonn
