What file format are you using to transmit the image? What file formats do Staples support? A 1600x1200 true colour (24 bit) image requires about 6MB of memory. This can be stored in a lossless format such as TIFF in 4MB-5MB. I find that to be adequate for 8"x11" although a high quality print should really have a few more pixels. I can see how your 11x17 comes to over 10MB. 300dpi (dots per inch) is recommended for high quality printing, which would give a 50MB file! Saving the same (6MB) file as a JPEG at the maximum 100 quality setting requires around 2MB, and at quality 90 only takes about 0.5MB. So saving as a JPEG should enable you to shrink your file sufficiently. Quality settings of 90-100 are suitable for high quality printing. Use the CMYK option if that is available.

I bought an HP All-in-one F380 about 3 years ago because my hubby needs to make copies and doesn't use a computer. Put the item under the glass, pick color or black, pick number of copies and press Start copy, and copies print out. It was $150 with a $50 mail in rebate and Staples had an immediate $50 rebate. Love it, and it does print wonderful pictures too. Ink is reasonable too, $18 and if you take the empty cartridges to Staples you get them for $15 each.

HI dancing girl ! Alot has happened since I purchased my pe scan! 2 new embroidery machines 1 old version of Disney then a new version of brother embroidery machine ....I haven used my pe scan but once! I tryed using it yesterday. ....it no longer works! Tryed looking it up on brother website but there is no such item must be so outdated! I took it apart today and fuse is black I need a new fuse ! But I don't know what kind of fuse it is! Brother is closed on Sunday :(. Maybe you know someone with this information the rest of the machine is pristine! But the fuse! ...I JUST ORDER THE BROTHER SCAN N CUT LAST WEEK! I'm so excited I'm wondering if I need this machine anymore now that I have the scan and cut I might be able just to transfer to pe design after I scan on cut n scan or I can just transfer it to my machine after that it sounds complicated to me so if I have to but a new one I might just get the flip pro scanner for brother I found one for 135.oo. so I have to wait till next month unless the cut n scan works?? If anyone knows anything about the only fuse that's inside the pe scan let me know ! I like to use this for lace if I can fix it! Thank you so much!! Dancing girl! !

alisande, you may be stuck in a never-never land of old hardware that doesn't run with newer versions of software or operating systems. Unless you're able to run the gauntlet of Canon and Microsoft forums or tech support, or know someone with experience jury-rigging old drivers and old hardware with new other things. A solution may require the purchase of a newer scanner that doesn't use TWAIN. I discarded a TWAIN-using scanner at least 5 years ago, the new PC I got at the time resisted all my efforts to make them work together. I didn't think TWAIN remained a supported or used protocol anymore but I guess it does to some extent.
