it is extremely important especially with an HP unit that you follow their directions exactly in order of how you install the cd and also at which point you connect the printer to the pc if you do not follow the proper order you will have problems. So go to the instructions from your printer and follow them exactly. If you need the manual you can go to the HP site and do a search there for the online version, also you can set up a chat with an HP tech for free they are very helpful. here is the manual and the poster for your printer Manuals HP PSC 1315 All-in-One Printer

Seems like you may have a corrupt file or two. First thing I would do is shut down the computer and restart to see if that clears the issue. Second I would remove the software, remove the connection to the printer and re-install as per HP instructions, reconnecting when the software tells you to do so.

Have you tried all of these: Unsupported Cartridge Error in DELL printers (29/09/2009 @ 16:39:55) The "Unsupported Cartridge Error" message may be familiar to you if you are an unlucky dell printer owner. This message seems to be quite a common issue and is not confined to remanufactured inkjets but is just as big a problem with original Dell printer cartridges. It seems from looking on various websites and forums that this is a common problem with Dell inkjet printers and especially prevalent in printers such which take the M4640, M4646 and 592 printer cartridges (All In One 922, 924, 944 etc). Here are 3 ways to try and resolve your Dell Unsupported Cartridge error message. 1, Run the printer's clean cartridge printer cartridges function. This should be found within your printer's menu system. You can find a full description on how to do this on your Dell printer manual. You can find them at the Dell printer support website. 2, Clean the contacts on the top and back of the cartridge with filtered water (bottled water is great for this). Always use a lint free cloth so that the contacts will not pick up particles or fluff. 3, Download the latest drivers for your particular Dell printer. If you are up to date, it may be worth uninstalling your current driver and reinstalling a new one. You can find all Dell printer drivers here. ** Me again... Another suggestion I saw was to place the black cartridge in the colour cartridge slot, or vice versa.** Here is a link that might be useful: Dell cartridges

Hi fuddyduddy I really can't help but didn't want you to feel ignored. Maybe your scanner has lost the file it used for the drivers - try reinstalling the scanner software with your fingers and toes crossed and hopefully this will resolve any conflicts. You could try posting at the computer forum - the clever folks over there might be able to help more. Sue
