Are the leaf-tips razor sharp? Hard to tell from just that pic, but I don't think you have a yucca on your hands. To me it looks more like some variety of bromeliad, though I am no expert.

Just for your info, the one that eventually flowers and dies is the Century Plant, or Agave americana.

I will take a better pic in the daylight.

The leaves are not like stiff succulent swords like the agave.
They are very pliable and thin. They dont seem to have such a trunk, not yet anyways.

Hope a better pic helps its id. I have had it about a yr and it is healthy and hasnt grown too much probably due to being confined to the small pot.

Trini MAY be correct. I just went out and checked it again.

It is very similar to the pic . Difference is that it does NOT have any spikes on the edge of the leaves, not at all.

The trunk would look like the pic if/when the lower leaves die off which have never happened as yet.

Hi David, that turtle is earning his keep. I have a hard time finding the plant due to the turtle schleping it all around the yard !

I did look up the name and found info that supports Trini's ID. Here is what it says. I like the NO TEETH part!

"A. attenuata is also commonly grown as a garden plant. Unlike many agaves, A. attenuata has no teeth or terminal spines making it an ideal plant for areas adjacent to footpaths. Like all agaves, A. attenuata is a succulent and requires little water or maintenance once established ."

I am VERY glad I remembered to ask what this plant is.

With the name I am able to find plenty of info and to me, it seems to be a welcome plant.

I hate stickers and spines of all types.

Hmm, I did some checking on my own and mine must be this plant as well, as it doesn't have thorns. :o)

where do you have yours growing? Full sun? Pot? in the ground? How tall, how wide? has it ever bloomed? Did it die back after it bloomed?

I have mine in the ground in full sun, but I just got it a few months ago. So it hasn't bloomed for me yet or reached maturity either. So far, I think it looks to be about the same size as yours.

Tony, what great plants. I looked for this plant for about two years before I found one. Mine is a single about the size of yours, and I planted it in the ground in an almost full sun area that receives no irrigation. It is my succulent area. I never water or fertilize it and it has done well. However, it has only been there about 6 months. It is liking the slightly cooler weather and is now putting out more foliage than before. I think these are much more common in California, where they grow tall and branch out quite a bit. I am hoping for that too, although the rosette is rather pretty.

I also have a tiny one in a pot which is doing fine. In spring I may plant it in the ground.

Yours are beautiful. Definite focal points.
