using a canner for pickling?

Hi there,

I am needing to make some pumpkin pickles this week, before my new large pot has arrived and I wonder if I can supplement my existing pot situation with my large enamelware canner? I typically only use it for canning, but I understand that it is non-reactive. The enamel is intact, no nicks. I use a similar style roasting pan for making fruit butter, so I assume it could be fine --

but then again, I didn't want to assume and end up with some tainted pickles.

Thanks

Lucy
