Darn! Darn! Darn!

I had been looking forward to planting my Barbados Cherry into the ground. It was given to me as a bonsai, and I put it into a 1 gallon pot. I figured it wasn't growing much, but it was living, so it must be making roots. Took it out, expecting to find a nice rootball...NO!

The roots look rotted, and there are only a few little stringy hair roots that look alive. It looks like it's been trying to make new roots from the part of the trunk right above the root ball The top actually looks pretty healthy.

I put it into a clay pot with some better draining soil, planted it deeper so those little roots can keep going, and watered with a little epsom salts to stimulate those little roots.

I hope it lives. I was really excited about planting it out.
