way to save threads/messages/etc.

..i do not make it over this way all that often..but i always learn so much when i do..!!

i think so much of the information in this forum would make( a )beautiful and very informative booklet..!!

"Gardenweb Hummingbird Garden Group" is such a 'homey group'..everyone seems to 'know one another' .

Anyway,i was experimenting and i thought,"i am going to save a bunch of posts in a thread..to see how it goes...make a booklet"

i went to a recent thread which i have entitled "MIMOSA MEMORIES".

i copied all the posts and pictures and saved it to a (30 page !) pdf file.

if anyone would like a copy,i would be glad to give you a URL to go to.

i think/hope you all will remember me.(.I am 'safe'..)(one of you).

(One of the family of Hummingbird Lovers who can often be found lurking at this forum during spring ( anxiously), summer (delightedly) ,autumn (sadly),and winter (dejectedly)..

This was a bit of a diffficult Spring..but finally Western New York/Southern Ontario has some beauties at last ..at last.

It could be,..perhaps, a way to save past, very informative postings on different hummingbird garden related subjects..

ps.. i did not edit out any posts..that is why it is so long.
i may have duplicated a few posts also..
.this was purely an experiment..

But from this experiment,i found that saving threads or interesting/helpful information from this forum in a booklet form is definitely something "do-able."

I had read online about using 5 gallon paint strainer bags over small plants. They're not very expensive in my area so I tried a few on small test clumps of various bush bean varieties, burying the rims in the dirt. They worked well...but this was a very dry year in our area. I question whether there would be more problems with mold and rot if the weather had been wetter. They look like they're still in good shape for re-use so I plan to find out. I didn't try them on pole beans. For those, I've been using wedding favor bags, which are also usually re-useable. It is very time consuming, though, if I want to get enough protected seeds just for myself, much less enough to share. A couple of my varieties (McCaslan 42 and Blue Lake S-7) usually produce 5 flowers on each raceme, so I could get more seeds for the bother than bagging 2 or 3 buds at a time on some other varieties. During very hot weather, the bagged blossoms tended to die.

For those on an iPad, you can also take a screen capture, or picture of what is currently displaying in your screen, by pressing the Home and Power buttons briefly at the same time. You will hear a sound like a camera taking a picture, and your screen image will appear in your Photos.

After you save it in "My Clippings" and you want to view it later you need to click on the heading of the first post and then the rest of the responses will pop up. I hope I'm being clear. When you go to "My Clippings" it only shows the first post of each one you've saved. That way if you have a lot of clippings (like me), you can scroll down quickly to find the one you're looking for. Hope this helps.

hey, alice, how's your world? great to hear from you.
what a cool labor of love. I've tried to download acrobat reader so I can see pdf files here, and it says it worked and downloaded successfully, but I still can't view pdf files. I could with my old operating system on this pc. ??
the favorite plants thread is a great one to archive.
