Question about food strainers...

I have a Back to Basics Victorio type food strainer and love it...mostly. The last couple of years, I've been roasting tomatoes before making them into sauce because we love the flavor, and it reduces the "cooking down" time to nothing. I've noticed that the strainer doesn't work as well with the soft, roasted tomatoes. It takes a long time to get them to go through, I guess because they are so soft? It's very frustrating.

So what I am wondering, since I own a Kitchen Aid mixer, is, if any of you have used the food strainer attachment on soft, roasted tomatoes. If so, how does it work? I don't want to invest in another gadget if it's not going to work any better that the Victorio. Anyone?
