YES INDEED! I've tried several times to organize a plant swap here in Jax but it seemed always to fizzle out. Not sure what I'll have at the end of our worst month of the year, but will certainly keep the swap in mind during the winter. cora

Glad to hear of it. I's like to keep this thread working so that I can gather information about getting the word out about the swap. Also, if anyone has organized one in the past, I'd appreciate advice. This will be the first one that our group has arranged.

What: Seed/Plant Swap and Community Garden Expo

I am near Jax but I don't know if I'd really have anything that early. I mostly grow tropical stuff so its usually all recouperating in early spring lol because I keep my greenhouse at the bare minimum temps. I might have veggie seedlings but that would probably be about it unless I plant some more stuff lol.

I am not interested in a plant swap. But I have about an acre of land - and all the volunteers from my native trees are starting to come out now. The normal stuff - cedars - gums - maples - various oaks. Some things that aren't native (like milkweed) that self-seed. The occasional crape myrtle. These are really small. Most can be hand pulled and potted in large plastic cups. Anyway - if a couple of people from your group would like to come over one day - you can pull/dig out as many as you want - maybe give them away for free at your event. Note that a lot of these are very fast growers - but they're not for people who want "instant large". FWIW - I have my yard service nuke them with round-up beginning of March - so February would be the month to come over. Robyn

Should us Gardenweb folks pick a corner or spot to meet? This event has been announced in the Florida Times-Union and if it is anything like today's Greenscape Flowering Tree sale, we might not find each other.

I am bringing lots of starts, cuttings and seeds. I got lots of cuttings going in the past few weeks so that I will be ready for the swap. I will be looking for curly spider plant ("Bonnie") and pink firespike, if anyone has any.

Who is going to the Jacksonville swap? What are you bringing? It is only two weeks from this Saturday. I would love to meet you. Cora, will you be there?

Oh, wow! I am definitely going to switch schedules with someone at work to make this happen. Does anyone like bromeliads or epiphytic cacti? Maybe swamp hibiscus or chamaedorea radicalis seedlings?

I have just a few epiphyllum and a Texas Star hibiscus - is that the same as a swamp hibiscus? I have a red one and my sister gave me seeds for a pink - but they have not germinated yet.

This is fabulous! It's good to see the chatter! We will have two exhibit booths adjacent to each other set aside for individual swappers - so be sure to ask at the Welcome table so that we can point them out to you.

I was saying that I HAVE epiphytic cacti and swamp hibiscus if anyone wants some. :) I can bring a bromeliad or two to trade... does anyone else have bromeliads?

jaxtropix... yeah, and I was trying to say I LIKE them - but I didn't do a very good job. Sorry for my poor communication. If you have any PINK epi cuttings, I would love to have one. By the way, my Texas Star Hibiscus seeds have already germinated and are about an inch tall. jaxtropix, I have quite a few plants and tree seedlings. I'm getting ready for the Oakland swap. What are you looking for? I might have it!
