Clues :
skin with distinct warts or bumps
large toe pads
bulging eyes
pinch the skin on the top of the head -
if it doesn't pull up - 100% positive it's a CTF .

I couldn't do the smushing thing but the Benzocaine liquid worked instantly! The CTF was luckier than most creatures to pass so quickly and apparently painlessly, even if somewhat prematurely! I am sure I will be able to do the deed without delay next time.

Sis, good for you. When we moved into our home 12 years ago we had no lizzards or frogs, except the CTF. We started removing them and now we have all sorts of the native ones back. I even have the green lizzards. It takes time, it doesn't happen over night, but it does happen if you stay with it.

It is difficult to dispose of any living thing .
CTFs are eaten by other animals but since they reproduce so prolifically ,
the CTFs are winning .
Now is the perfect time to go on the hunt .
With cold weather , frogs move slower and are easier to catch .

Alas, I will have no relief from the CTF's due to them breeding in the pool next door and the drainage swale behind my house. I keep trying, but all my toads, green lizards, and green tree frogs are gone. My lizards are coming back, though, but probably because of the large roach population since I stopped using poison on the soil. Roaches are getting a little out of hand, so I may have to do something about that this winter while the birds are inside. Can't treat for them while they're out in the aviary.

You can reduce the negative impacts of Cuban Treefrogs by eliminating eggs and potential breeding sites. Monitor ornamental ponds or neglected pools for Cuban Treefrog egg masses during the spring and summer, especially after heavy rains. Be sure to check for eggs the morning following rain so the eggs do not have time to hatch. Use a small-mesh aquarium net to scoop out masses of Cuban Treefrog eggs floating on the surface of the pond or pool and simply discard them on the ground to dry out.
