Newbie to canning, is it OK to can cooked tomato sauce w/

...with a hot water bath canner. I just bought one to can mostly tomatoes with but I had also planned to can pepper and eggplant if possisble as well. After doing some research, I see that there is frequent reference to a pressure canner as the tool of choice.

I paid like 22$ for the water bath canner and haven't used it yet. I'm starting to think I should seek a refund and go all out and get the pressure canner that way I'll have more peace of mind that I'm not going to give my family botulism later. Also, I'll have more range on what items I am able to safely can.

Any words of wisdom, you can give on what is the right way to get started?
