Problem with Photobucket and Firefox 4

I recently downloaded the latest update of the browser Firefox, new rev. is Firefox 4. I have a Dell computer with Vista operating system, less than 2 years old. I have problems now since that download.

Login to Photobucket showed that I am now listed as having a mobile connection as being used with smart telephones, and I can only download via Email, and they gave me that Email address. I have no smart phone. The page is in a columnar form, showing only 4 pictures at a time, all very different to what I was used to. I was able to attach a photo of the hosta Sagae to my Email to Photobucket and it arrived there too. There does not seem any longer any function to resize that picture. I figured out to get the HTML code and could post it on the Hosta Forum.

I wonder if any of you had that same problem. I tried to get explanations - perhaps getting out of that mobile format - via HELP on Photobucket.com, but a bad quirk of Firefox 4 now displays a Yahoo page right then, and I never used Yahoo before.

My sympathies. When I had Vista I crashed a lot for no good reason. Advise you get an upgrade to Windows 7, which is much more reliable. OR go back to the earlier version of Firefox which worked for you with Vista.

Bernd,

The problem is the combination between your operating system (Vista) and the newer browser (FF4). I'm using FF4 with my Macbook OSX and have no problems. If you want to use the latest browser you'll have to upgrade to Windows 7 as Babka recommended.

I just added Firefox for the first time this past weekend; it's version 3.5.3 which I believe is the latest. At Adobe, I installed/reinstalled Flash Version 10.0.32.18. It is for Windows, Firefox, Safari and Opera. I also installed the Flash Player 10 PlugIn 10.0.32.18 which is for Firefox. I tested at the Adobe site and they report Flash 10.0.32.18 was successfully installed. I also checked C:\Windows/system32/Macromed/Flash and found Flash10c.ocx and NPSWF32.dll there. During the time that I was still trying to get IE7 to work, I followed some directons using Start, Run and then entering each of the following separately, followed by clicking OK. They were regsvr32 mshtml.dll regsvr32 shdocvw.dll regsvr32 browseui.dll regsvr32 msjava.dll Success was reported with the 1st three, but on the last the message was: LoadLibrary ("msjava.dll") failed. The specified module could not be found. I googled it and one site said it won't be found because MS's Java has been replaced by Sun's version. Another site listed programs it's known to affect - Macromedia Flash was on the list. Since I recognized the work Java, I reinstalled that program just in case it might solve the video problem - it didn't. Since this all began somewhere in the process of updating to IE7 (which I then uninstalled) I did reinstall IE7 hoping for a magic solution - it didn't happen. I do plant to continue with FF, however. Is there a program (or maybe it's a tool that's already on my computer) that would show what's happening behind the scenes when the video is "loading"? When I have uninstalled firefox before installing a newer version the bookmarks, history, etc. have stayed in the Mozilla folder. To be double safe you can export your bookmarks (bookmarks > organize bookmarks > import and backup) to a file in your My Documents folder before uninstalling. That way you can delete the folder after uninstalling if you need to do so to install an older version.

Yup! I noticed a post that was done by Joan_2007 - regarding a pic of a tile asking what IS the tile? Clicked on the link, and yup... no picture... :( I'm on my Mac, and I tried using BOTH Safari AND Firefox - no luck...:( I also tried to look at the same thread "Anyone Recognize This Tile Manufacturer?" - on my PC, and the picture came through very nicely.. Go Figure... It must have something to do with the way my Mac processes (sp?) the graphics... duh-doh!!!!!! Of course - there's also the old "Operator Error" which is prolly what it usually is - operator error on MY part!! HA!! Photobucket and specific computer issues are WAY out from my area of expertise (Natural Stone Slab Applications) - but I think it may be a Mac issue...? kevin BTW - For what it's worth - the tile in question looks (to me) like it's possibly - either a ceramic with the color range of Botticino Classico, or possibly a really light shaded limestone Maybe a Jerusalem Limestone - the picture is hard to scale up to on my PC......

I have been running Vista (Home Premium) and FF4 without any problems. Sorry, I have no idea how to help you.

I had trouble with Photbucket today using Explorer. Same column format. I couldn't even login. Then I notice a clickable icon at the very top that said something like "Web View". I clicked on it and it straighten everything out.

Babka, I am also thinking about that option to go back to Firefox 3.6. I will do that when I can not solve my problem per Firefox Help.

Steve and Babka, no, presently I do not want to get into Windows 7, Vista should work with FF4 per Paul.

Today right after first going into Firefox I got into the formerly used version of Photobucket, but then Yahoo came and wanted to take over my world again. I needed to hit BACK 4 times to get out of that. So it seems I have to get rid of FF4 selecting Yahoo in this instant.

When reading yesterday in the Firefox.com Help section under 'Yahoo problems', it seems I have to go into some 'Hyper code' (whatever that is) and delete 'Yahoo' there. There seems to be some standard Hyper code which selects automatically Yahoo. This seems to be the worst user unfriendly application I have ever seen, requiring me to become an operating system programmer.

Paul, it might be that when you downloaded FF4, it set that 'Hyper code' correctly. But it is nice to know that you have it working, and I possibly will be able too.

tj, thanks about mentioning this little icon "Web View". I saw some very small icons which were difficult to decipher.

Anyway, I saw some more leafing-out hostas from SC at this nursery, but will leave it at that 'Sagae' I bought yesterday. So why should I think of some hypercode'? I get hyper thinking of that.
