I uploaded several layouts about an hour & a half ago using Firefox with no problems....

I'd be very skeptical of any message telling you to download something like that...

Which browser do you use? I'm asking b/c I had problems w/Internet Explorer recently...couldn't communicate w/internet...that also affected uploading of photos to PB using Firefox (I got a network connection error, though, not infection message).

It turned out my DS had been playing around w/the settings and had turned on a "Proxy Server"in IE. I disable it and all my problems were solved! (Don't you wish life was that easy!)

I regret to inform you that "Antivirus 2009" is a virus and a particularly nasty one at that.

The first computer I saw with this on it had a couple of other issues also and I was unable to fix it. For the first time in my career, I lost against a (many curse words deleted) virus.

I will warn you that (1) avg will not detect or remove it and (2) There is a lot of bad information about this particular virus - it has a lot of parts and there are some variants.

I have had the same problem this am. Posted a warning over at Home Dec.

So, now what? I am running the CA anti-virus scan. How will I know if I have this virus? What actually will it look like?

Yep and darnit... I clicked... once it uploaded to my desktop I dragged it to trash and ran a system update. I have a MAC and don't think they are as susceptible to virus'.

I had a problem this morning, too, and nearly had a heart attack... thought I had picked up about 500 nasty viruses. (I'm a computer idiot, though.) Anyway, I called my DSIL who is a computer whiz, and he came over and said I was fine. Photobucket has a problem... and what was happening is that it was opening a new window looking like there were big problems. He suggested just x-ing out of it, and not using PB for a while; said they'd probably find it and fix it.

Thanks all for your many responses. Fortunately, I am always skeptical/suspicious and I DID NOT download anything. However, each time I tried to upload a photo or copy a photo here, I ended up totally closing down Windows Explorer and having to use Task Manager to do so.

Now I am afraid to go back to PB. Any suggestions for ways to post photos?

I don't think the problem was at photobucket.

The article linked below is about as accessible as geeks get. Its about fooling the servers who tell you where photobucket is so that they give you the wrong place. I think that's what happened.

My DH is in IT and says there's a new worm or virus going around so it's important to be careful. You're right not to do that!

To answer your quesiton, I haven't had problems today with photobucket.

I can log into photobucket and see my albums, but I cannot upload anything to it.

I had the same problem today. I had just downloaded a picture and was trying to enlarge when it came up with that message. It tried to download when I tried to make it go away. I actually turned the computer off then turned it back on and ran a scan. Hopefully, nothing jumped on board! I haven't went back to check if it would reappear.

I noticed a post that was done by Joan_2007 - regarding a pic of a tile
asking what IS the tile? Clicked on the link, and yup... no picture... :(

I'm on my Mac, and I tried using BOTH Safari AND Firefox - no luck...:(

I also tried to look at the same thread "Anyone Recognize This Tile Manufacturer?" -
on my PC, and the picture came through very nicely..

Go Figure... It must have something to do with the way my Mac processes (sp?)
the graphics... duh-doh!!!!!!
Of course - there's also the old "Operator Error"
which is prolly what it usually is - operator error on MY part!! HA!!

Photobucket and specific computer issues are WAY out from my area
of expertise (Natural Stone Slab Applications) - but I think it may be a Mac
issue...?

BTW - For what it's worth - the tile in question looks (to me) like
it's possibly - either a ceramic
with the color range of Botticino Classico, or possibly a really light shaded
limestone Maybe a Jerusalem Limestone - the picture is hard to scale up to on my PC......

I use Firefox and haven't had a problem. I agree that it isn't a Photobucket problem, and found this article from PC Magazine about this virus.

That's not likely to work. Antivirus 2009 has been "improved" or I guess you could say "weaponized". To add insult to injury, it invites its friends to come too.
