Beautiful blues. All my blues looked pretty green last year.

Kayly, I've gone through all those periods too. You still have several to look forward to:

round shape
shiny
rippled
pointed
family groups -and anything else you can think of.

All the suggestions above are good ones. Here are a few of my favourites not mentioned.

Blue Betty Lou and Blue Umbrellas, my best growing large Blues. They have grown a lot better than Elegans or Blue Angel for me.

Medium Large:

Wheaton Blue and Blue Whirls and Cutting Edge have been fast growers for me.

Medium favourites are Carolina Blue which takes a lot of sun, Sky Dancer (love the shape of this one as well as the color), and Camelot for the powder blue color.

And for a small, Blue Sliver. I'm sure someone will mention Blue Mouse Ears.

Thanks for the recommendations! So many gorgeous ones to consider. I really like 'Blue Umbrellas,' and 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd' has been on my list for a while but always seemed to take a backseat to some other beauty that caught my eye first. But this may be its year. :)

I do have 'Blue Mouse Ears' tucked away in a couple spots in my garden--the only real blues I have.

If you don't have Halcyon, I'd put that at the absolute top of your list. It's usually cheap, it's a fast grower, it looks great right up to the end of the season and its powder blue enhances the color of almost any other hosta in the landscape!

Anyone have a good pic of a mature Blue Angel? Mine's too small.

I don't have a good picture, because mine is too young, but Deep Blue Sea is a real cutie.

My Deep Blue Sea is still small, too, but I love the deep color and the slight shine it seems to have. I am partial to the cupped ones like that, Big Daddy, Love Pat, etc. I'd love to see a pic of a mature DBS if anyone has one.

Flemish Sky is one I added a few years ago that keeps it's color well for me. Most of my blues stay pretty blue since I have a lot of shade.

Blue Hawaii is another one. I'm also partial to the upright growers.

IMHO no yard is complete without a Hosta 'Fortunei Hyacinthina'. Must admit to a special attachment to it, since years ago it was the very first one I ever planted -still a NOID then- but it has since found its way into several spots in the garden. There's one sizeable plant that's in open shade under some Thuja 'Smaragd' that in mid-summer looks almost black at times, very striking. This cultivar's propensity for sporting doesn't hurt either.

Aaah! I think 'Queen of the Seas' is one I will definitely get this year, in honor of Mildred Seaver at the very least (and also because it's a gorgeous hosta.)

Here is a Blue Angel, about 5 years old. I have 3 but the other two are a couple years younger (and get too much sun?). This one likes it where it is. I can't wait to see it again this year. Only one month to go!

Great BA, Clay. That's my favorite blue. I like the contrast you have with color and texture in this setting. Nicely done.

Steve Mass asked above for pics of Blue Angel. Here's mine. It was planted bare root by my brother & he grew for about 6 years at his house (northern IL). Lots of rocks in the soil & very dry location. He was done with it.

I dug the whole rootball & moved to my house (central IL)...been in it's spot for 4 years.

Yes, it's fantastic and a big one and fast grower, waaaay faster than Hosta 'Halcyon'.
