Brining blues... The tail of a SS stock pot

Well, I put up about 10# of Zucchini in a brine two weeks ago. All of my crocks and other stock pots are being used right now. So, I had free 20QT SS stock pot and figured it would work fine. So I put the sliced and speared squash in the kettle, filled it with brine, a glass pie plate fit perfectly, added my weight (clean large rocks) and let it set. Two weeks go by and it is leaking like a sieve. Turns out the RIVITS holding the handles on are Aluminum and the brine must have reacted just enough to make it leak. So, now I have the brine below the rivets and I am going to let it set for a few more weeks to finish fermenting. Thought I'd share this to say check your rivet material.

Happy preserving,

Nik
