found a scape

HOPE it will have time to bloom before we get a frost here.I think it hws time, we dont usually get a frost till about the end of october, but a few times got it sooner.

and ms Blackie injoying the cooler day today. she shut her eyes just when i snapped the picture ai guess, as I dont see her eyes open,,, again

It's so nice to get scapes now. I hope you get blooms! Mine are also sending up scapes but since we got a bit of snow yesterday, I don't think there's much chance of blooms. Blackie looks like he's ready to go to sleep. Cute pic. Marg

Wonderful! What is the daylily? Cameras always catch me with my eyes shut too, so I sympathize with Ms Blackie :)

Devon, it is part of the fun, but it can make you crazy looking for them!! It's fun and exciting when you discover a scape, but looking and not finding scapes can make you crazy!! So out of the 200+ pots in the greenhouse, the first 11 have scapes. You would think there should be more, but these are the "scouts"! The first ones that are a bit early. If I look every day (and I have) I have found no additional scapes. If I would just wait and look in a week I would find a few more. Looking everyday is the way to make you crazy!! I should know... This is the 4th year with a greenhouse. Before that, it was just, "... Hey look... A scape!" Kristi

I don't know, I have seen afew holes in my iris leaves also. Not many but they look simmilar to yours. I think it's some sort of insect chewing on the leaves. The iris look fine otherwise so I am thinking it's not a big deal.

Cool - see, this is why I try to make everything in my beds coordinate with each other all season long, because I never know when things are actually going to bloom! I also have had some scapes on a daylily at the new house that I hadn't noticed until just recently - I'm very curious to see what they look like! (That along with the peony buds that are torturing/tantalizing me! I wanna know what it is going to look like!!!)

yea KAY the plants dont know what to do with this crazy weather we have been getting.A iris bloom now? thats pretty crazy too, I have never seen iris bloom this time of year,I have a couple roses still blooming that the deer hasnt ate up yetcourse one of the blooms is Mr LINCOLN and the bloom is high up, dont think a deer can reach it, well they could if they stand up on the hind legs. which I see them doing all the time.My Hydrangea s dont have many leaves on them and certainly no blooms. AVEDON. glad you at least have some verbena blooms. all mine is about dead, the leaves has burnt up on them. what I do have thats very odd right now is a tomatoe plant that is full of tomatoes. they are small and they are all green except 3 thats red.one african daisey plant blooming. Yes, I am one that will be so happy for the daylilies to all bloom again.I reslly miss them. Jean

Good luck I hope your scape blooms for you. Ms Blackie looks like she is enjoying the cooler weather and getting some much needed relaxation after a busy garden season.

AWW....I always love seeing Ms. Blackie, even with her eyes shut. I always have problems getting photos with my cats eyes open....cats sure do blink a lot! She looks so cute laying there and makes me wish I could pet her. I love Ms. Blackie!
Is the scape one that hasn't bloomed yet or is it rebloom?
I have a scape that same size on one from a Maryott order but the temps have already gotten colder here and this weekend some places here will be getting a frost, so I'm
holding my breath waiting. I bet yours will have time to
open for you where you are....good luck!

Hurray for rebloom! Rebloom is great! Ms Blackie needs her rest from helping in the garden so her eyes are closed for taking a snooze LOL!

Yay! One more rebloom for you! I would guess you are far enough south it will get to bloom before it gets too cold.

CELESTE,I always have a time to get a picture of Ms BLackie with her eyes open.she watches every move i make outside, but when you are about to snap a picture of her, she shuts her eyes.I do not know if this DL, has bloomed earlier iN rhe year, iT was a gift to me from a forum friend its a fIrst bloom for ME.

RITA: I agree, Rebloom is great. any kinf of bloom is nice thid timr of year when everything is finished for the year, I still have some zinnia's blooming and some young roses blooming. I just rook a cutting off one of my roses and rooted it, wnd now its 2 ft high snd blooming.and another one I rooted is blooming, but its now 2 ft tsll.its in 3 Gallon pot,and I will soon trandslant it into a bigger pot.

No frost till the end of October! And I wonder how cool was the "cooler day"? A different zone from here. Surely, you will see blooms from this scape.

Know how happy you are to see a new scape, hope it blooms for you. My husband just discovered a new scape on Final Touch, but it is a tiny thing, so little hope it will develop a bloom. We had our first rain of September, a whopping .01 inch, but at least the temps are much cooler. Lots of clouds today and supposed to be same tomorrow, which really helps the plants. Avedon

CTC, I need some golden fingers to type better then I did in the previoud msg.been hitting wrong letters for 3 days now and spending timr to back track to fix it,My fingers are so stiff and hurting lately, I can barely move them.and at THE PRESENT MY WRIST IS REALLy THROBBING TOO

avason,you are lucky to get rain. its been a long time since it rained here. we had one day last week that we just had a mist that day,I dont call that rain,.I am still haaving to water daily, our cooler weather is 75 today,and mid 60's at night,feels lots better then that 100 plus.

Since it's in a pot, I wonder if bringing it indoors at night would help? If you have something to sit it on that rolls, you could just wheel it in and out.

Not sure if it would work, but I would probably give it a try to see if it would bloom.

Anything this late is a bonus!

Isn't it fun? I found a scape on Sunday too. Mine is on 'Yazoo Jim Terry'.

We're already past our avg first frost date and having nights down in the 40s but next weekend is supposed to get back up into the 80s again so who knows. Maybe I WILL see it bloom.
