Jan, Sorry about the flooding!! Been watching the news and you guys are definitely getting the worst rain out of this storm. I live in Sebring and received 7+" of rain, actually we really needed the rain as we have been in a deficit. You guys are getting way too much.. Wow, unbelievable! We got nothing here but maybe 5 minutes of sprinkles. I've had to water my plants yesterday and today because they're dehydrated from the wind.

Sure hope it STOPS auntiejan! In years past we've had almost the entire house flooded (on the INside!). This year we're so fortunate! ...due in a large part to a fantastic friend who came from Chicago on his vacation in 2004 and rebuilt our back roof and gave us instructions for futher improvements!. Already have had probably in excess of 15" of rain in the last 24 hours...HAPPY to report that there is no flooding inside. Outside? Well, there are gardens in standing water...and lots of places in the yard. But...we're WAY better off than those folks on Satellite Beach and Melbourne areas who have had to evacuate because of sewage backing up into their homes. Go AWAY, FAY!

We're in the same water situation in Bradenton as Babalu in St. Pete, but we're not complaining! We've seen the pictures and heard the stories of the losses on the east coast and know just how lucky we are to still be able to go out and water our gardens then go back inside our houses which are in one piece with everything still functioning as it is supposed to. All of you in the path are in our thoughts and prayers.

Another still pic here too. I don't know if you can see it, but if you look right by the wind chimes under the oak tree you can sort of see the dock. That is the TOP RAIL of the dock.

I just went outside a few minutes ago and a big FISH jumped right by the danged bird feeder!!! Well, where the bird feeder normally is, anyway.

My beloved dog Ruby won't pee in the rain either. I walked her yesterday with a golf umbrella over her. She didn't pee and I got wet (again).

I'm in the same boat as many others on the West coast. Less than 100 miles away from terrible flooding, the same dang state, and we have not had a single drop of rain in almost a week. This whole tropical event, and no rain!?! Lots of plants are drooping from thirst. Gotta water tomorrow. Crazy.

No imatallun, not a mango, we have wax mrtles and hibiscus in that area. I lived in Jensen Beach/Stuart for two years, hope you are getting over this mess too. I heard there was damage in Wellington south of you in the horse area.

I can't believe how dry it was only a few months ago, but that's Florida for you.

I guess I saw the wax myrtle. Too bad my eyesite and plant identifaction are failing.

We're definitely out of the weeds in Stuart (I think). PSL and parts of Ft. P are submerged with water. Roads, homes, businesses are swamped north of the Roosevelt Bridge. I haven't heard that much about Wellington, but a friend at work drove home from JB to PSL yesterday evening. She said it took her 1 & 1/2 hours due to all the roadblocks - finally she drove through water on Prima Vista over the hood of her car. Her husband is dying of cancer.

No matter how miserable we may be at any given moment due to ma nature and etc., there are nice people who are dealing with far worse circumstances. I don't mean to diminish the urgency or ramifications of Fay, but she will, hopefully soon, go away. How does it look now? Better, I hope.

Ian, I remembered to shut off my irrigation system tonight, thanks to your post. (We're on Thursday/Sunday.) Wish I could send you a boatload of H20. Fay was supposed to hit you first, right? To coin a phrase from Jam, "that's Florida for you".

Jan, in what area in Melbourne are you located? We are just north of Melbourne, in an unincorporated area at the Pineda Causeway and Wickham Road. We are fine, but the intersection was flooded this afternoon, so no one could get in our out of the subdivision. My siblings in Malabar and Palm Bay are fine, except the one in Palm Bay has a saturated septic system, can't flush the toilets. One friend in the Eau Gallie area of Melbourne has water in their house. Haven't heard from them since this morning.

So far I haven't had too many problems with my 4 pooches and potty breaks. I go outside and check for snakes and other critters. Then I go inside and run them through the length of the house. Well, actually they run and I walk. We make a big game of it and by that time they don't care that it's raining outside. This is a relief (pun intended), because I had problems with them during the 2005 hurricane. If there had been any advance notice that we were going to have such prolonged rain, I would have bought some sod at HD. Then I could have put it on some plastic in the garage & we all wouldn't have gotten sopping wet for 2 days now.

Patrick AFB is near here and as of 1am Thurday, it's had 21 inches of rain. A subdivision south of here (Wickham and Post Rds has had around 25 or 28 inches. They expect that we may get up to another 8 inches on Thursday.

It's ironic about not knowing about the lingering rain. Next door neighbor on one side of me is a meteorologist; on the other side is one of the heads of the Cape, and they didn't know. The meteorologist is fascinated on how the storm is not fitting the computer models. I'm not interested, just hope it goes away so people get relief from all of the flooding.

We are still having winds down here in so.PB county. The sun came out yesterday afternoon and the heat and humidity were stifling after the couple of days of gray/wet skies and a tad cooler weather.

Hey Lynne, I am off of Eber Road in south Melbourne. The roads are passable but most intersections are flooded, the lake water has receded a lot this morning, we got a break from the real heavy stuff overnight but it's raining again this morning.

I just hope all of my plants can take this water, I know I am going to lose my geraniums and gerber daisies.

Fay has definitely been a problem child, more like a spoiled brat! LOL...

Jan, you are right about Fay being a spoiled brat. I'm very annoyed with weather predictions. Can't even get a decent projection about the wind a couple hours out. It's been a lot more than 12 mp for the last 13 hours but weather sites won't predict or report accurately. Winds slowed down at 1am so I put out garbage can, cuz we missed Tuesday pickup. Now the stinking wind has picked up again.

Now that I'm venting, why did the weather sites predict only 80% total chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, when Fay was stuck here?? Hello, we got more than 21 inches of rain! I think they could gone out on a limb and thrown caution to the wind (puns intended) & predicted 100% chance of rain.

By the way, next door neighbor is a meteorologist by training (So was our Next door neighbor up north. What are the odds of that? The only 2 I have ever met.) Anyway, our neighbor is a very nice man and has a different profession.
However, he finds Fay's behavior interesting. He's very interested in how she broke the computer models. Hope I don't lose it tomorrow when I see him. LOL
