I'm so sorry, Lrae. I've missed seeing your posts, but certainly understand other things take precedence over our daylily hobby.

Losing a pet, especially one that's been with us for a long time, is so very hard. I can't imagine having to go through the grief with more than one animal.

Hang in there -- we'll be here when you're able to join in again.

Lrae, I can sympathize. Having our first dog put down was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I hope I never have to make that decision again. Even though you know you did the right thing...it's still heartbreaking. Your grief is natural...take your time...we're not going anywhere.

Lrae, I am sorry to hear about your pets. I know how precious they can be. I have a 12 year old Main Coon cat that I have had since she was a kitten and she is starting to slow down. You did the right thing though but I am sure it had to be difficult. Please know that you are in my thoughts.

I am so sorry! A pet is as much a part of your family as the people, and of course you must grieve. It is so hard to have to let go. Do what you have to do. Give your self time.

I hope that the posts and pictures you see here help cheer you even when you don't feel up to posting a response. We all need to lurk sometimes. Please don't feel bad about that. Take the time you need.

Lrae, what a tough few weeks you have had. You have always been supportive of everyone who posts here on this forum. I hope you can feel our arms giving you one big group hug. As someone said, maybe reading the posts can help cheer you, but don't feel badly about not posting yourself. All of us who are animal lovers know what it is like to grieve for a pet and we know that sometime it is hard to find the energy to things that we want to do. We will look forward to your return at a later time.

I understand your pain and loss. I Had to do the same thing with my boys Max and Baer, also with a wonderful loving German Shepherd of 14 years Bumper, before Max and Baer. I don't think we ever get over the pain and loss, totally. I think that may well be a good thing, we appreciate the ones we have and love, even more. It doesn't hurt as much as time passes but you always feel the loss and we should. The times together would be meaningless, if we did not. Time heals....we all feel your pain right now. Come back when you feel ready...we will all be here for you.

Lrae, I lost my two cats within 3 weeks of each other in the winter. I grieved and grieved for months. I wrote about them and planted two large canna beds, and placed one in the center of one bed and the other in the center of the other bed. The grave of one is surrounded by tall red and yellow cannas, and the other grave is surrounded by tall yellow cannas. It is the hardest thing since the death of my mother 21 years ago.

My cats were among the finest people that I know and much better than most people I know. That hole in your heart is going to be pretty big for some time, which shows your great capacity to give and receive love.

Oh, Lrae, let me add my sympathies. Most of us are pet lovers as well as gardeners, so we do know your pain. I've had to lose both a dog and a cat...It was so hard. Hang in there, impossible as it seems now, you will find that, gradually, your grief will ease. I know right now that seems unlikely.

I have an older dog now that I try to appreciate each day because who knows how much longer she has.

Take good care and join us when you can. We're thinking of you.

We lost our 15 year old dog in June also, it is so hard to lose them, especially hard when you have lost 3 in such a short time. I'm so sorry.

I had been wondering where you went too as you had been such a regular poster here usually. I certainly can understand you feelings of loss over your beloved pets and hope the sadness lessons soon. They each brightened your life for their years here on earth and that is the good part.

Thank each and every one of you so very much for your understanding and kind words. People that don't have pets don't really understand the magnitude of loss that is felt when a beloved pets life comes to an end. You all are so very special to me. I'm sorry for all of you that have lost furry family members too.

Bless your heart. I lost my sweet Norrie, a 16 year old Whippet on June 23. I had to euthanize her because she was just hurting so bad and I couldn't let her continue to suffer. Even though it was the right thing, it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I can not imagine losing 3 all together. My other two dogs are getting older now, but through the grace of God I did not have to lose them all at once.

You've had so much loss in such a short amount of time, I know that no one blames you for just stepping back and taking time to try to heal.

I am very sorry for your losses and I wish so much there was something I could do to help you.

Take care of yourself, the pain doesn't go away but it does get a little more tolerable.
