All of it, beautiful! I love the rock borders. This is my favorite way to edge my beds. I would do it to all of my beds if my husband did not think it would be a "rock overload" :) Thanks for sharing. I love to see peoples gardens. It gives great inspiration!

My first reaction to your posts is almost always "Wow!" You obviously treat your daylilies well; the flowers are lush, and even this late in the season, the foliage still looks fresh. If I were a daylily, I would want to live at your house. Eagerly awaiting part II...

I especially like the rock border by the road. The Orchid Corsage clump is outstanding. Does Frank's Star of Bethlehem bloom beneath the foliage (not uncommon this year)?

CELESTE: just breathetaking and beautiful beyond words. I know of nothing that could possibly describe such beauty as you have created, not to mention all that back breaking work.I bet your body cried for a good long soak in a hot bath tub each evening.At least, you can say you got plenty of exercise.FRANK'S STAR OF BETHLEHEM is a beauty.love that color and that edge on it.BEYOND THUNDER DOME is really pretty, too,CATHERINE NEAL is a beauty, too. Awesome pictures, I need to add more late Daylilies, yours are beautiful. I also have plenty of rocks, and have used them for raised beds, a lot of work, but as your pictures show, very nice landscaping. I'm looking forward to your remaining late Daylily pictures.

You have a lot of nice late bloomers. Kinda nice that Frank's Star of Bethlehem is a late, although you may not be thinking that in the spring when you are anxious for those first bloom.It is a pretty one though. Carol's Gentle Presence is a really pretty, delicate color, I like that nice subtle ruffle on it. I'm still so impressed with your flower beds, did you do the paths too? They just blend in so very nicely. What is the red flower in 3rd & 4th pics of your garden beds? I thought at first some type of coreopsis, but the flowers are so big. Really catches your eye. I remember reading a garden design article once that said red didn't really fit in a garden well, but how is that possible? I love red in the garden, especially that shade.

Your gardens are fantastic Celeste. Such a great combination of plants and so much color in bloom! The color of Catherine Neal is fantastic. Does she always come out so purple? Your Orchid Corsage is also looking great. Mine has been lousy the last few years and I think it might help if I dig and split the plants. I'm really liking Chicago Apache too - a great shade of red.

I keep saying it every time you post some pictures - your garden is beautiful.....Frank's Star of Bethlehem is about perfect with that form and those edges, Chicago Apache may be an oldie but shines in your photographs, and Live Jazz with it's polychrome colors rounds out my top 3......Maryl

To answer questions:
Mantis, Frank's Star of Bethlehem doesn't usually bloom beneath the foliage but this year it wasn't much above it as you see in the photo. It doesn't have tall scapes anyway but they are above the foliage. This is why I planted it in the front of my border. But I also think it's the kind of daylily folks enjoy seeing closeup anyway so I
don't mind it's shorter stature. It does bloom late every year here, but for such a frilly bloom it opens well.
For those who asked about Catherine Neal....the color on mine does not fade. It is very dark, just as you see in the photo. Actually it is hard to get a good photo of it to show just how dark it really is.
Nancy, that red flower is indeed a coreopsis. I lost the tag and don't remember the name but it is one of the newer ones on the market. With so many flowers and people stopping to look, somtimes tags disappear and then my brain freezes up for the names....lol. I do the paths also, but some aren't finished yet because I ran out of slate.

Your garden is very nice I considered Orchid Corsage a few years ago but didn't get it. Your clump is beautiful.

At long last, Celeste, I am finally finding some time to post a bit here. As always, your garden is beyond words, what beauty you have created. All the daylilies are stunning, as is everything else. I just want to pack up and show up on your doorstep one morning and see it all in person. Be careful, one day you may find hoards of us on the Forum banging on your door wanting to a tour--LOL!! You know I will be waiting to see what you have to show in your next post, especially since DL season is pretty much winding down for a lot of us. I just want to tell you that Royal Frosting still has a couple more buds, hope they can make it. This DL is truly amazing, it began blooming May 29 and as I said, two more buds to go. Thank you for sending me this wonderful plant. Hope your family is doing well, I always think a lot about your mother and know you are doing a wonderful job taking care of her, and the grandsons, and of course, Zeus. Avedon

Thanks for letting me know it is a coreopsis. I love the threadleaf coreopsis, although a few years ago several of the newer threadleaf coreposis weren't hardy in my zone, even though the tags said they were. Bought a red one a few weeks ago that says it is hardy to -10, we'll see. But its flowers are small & almost not noticeable. I did get a large flowered white one that is supposed to be hardy & I'm really liking it.

Avedon....I am so happy to hear from you! Your life must be as full as mine because I've noticed your absence. I am so glad Royal Frosting is behaving nicely for you there. It is one of those daylilies that doesn't get the attention it deserves. Mine took this summer off after blooming profusely for many seasons and only had a few blooms. But I can forgive that since she needed some time off from work (I can relate!).

Nancy.....I am worried that the red coreopsis won't come back after my hard winter. It is new to me. It is a threadleaf and just like you I lost a couple that the tag said were hardy here in zone 4/5. I'm mad that I wasted good money on what turned out to be annuals instead of perennials. I got them at a reputable garden center and wish they had knowledge that they sell plants that are not hardy here even though listed as being such. I have the yellow threadleaf ones which are hardy here and another smaller-flowered one that came back from winter that is a red & yellow combo. That one has tiny flowers and is not bold like the red one in my photo and looks lost in the border.

these are great! I have Orchid Corsage, but mine is always so short. Also I gave up on Catherine Neal years ago, mines was pathetic. You must have the touch! [at least my Chicago Apache is up to speed!]

Celeste, all of the dayilies are beautiful, but those beds are magnificent! The rock borders are very satisfying...I don't know that that is exactly proper, but they are so right. I love the look of them, and then with the beautiful blooms....what more could you ask. And your Orchid Corsage clump is especially beautiful.

Saltidawg....the deer do indeed try to sample my gardens but I keep them at bay by using several motion detector deer/animal repellers that spray water. I have woods in my backyard as well as across the road and in years past they destroyed my gardens. Since all it does is scare them and doesn't harm them (you connect to a garden hose) I like it better than my husband's solution (he is a hunter). As an added bonus they keep solicitors away too!

Nancy....I finally remembered the name of the red coreopsis in the garden bed photos. It is 'Mercury Rising'.
