Tuesday bloom pics

Looks like we will continue to have more openings and I've spotted a few more scapes coming up.

CANYON COLORS - I have to laugh because I swore this was going to be the last year here for three of the Lambertson's which included this one. It opened with twins today and each looked perfect. To make matters worse, MESOZOIC MUNCH,another one I decide it must go, also has another scape. Darn these plants.

FANCY FACE - it sent up another scape and this is the first opening on the new scape. Not as color intense as earlier in the season.

CERISE MASTERPIECE - looks to have 1 or 2 more buds to open. What a trooper.

WESTBOURNE VALENTINE'S DAY - still has 2-3 scapes with buds to open yet. I noticed that some open great and others seem to twist and not open fully on the lower petal. This is a big bloom.

Seedling - UNK X UNK - Year 2 - this scape was shorter than the first ones that came up.

And for some OT pics, here is my Heavenly Blue Morning Glories which started bloom about a week ago. Not alot of blooms but I'll take what I can get. I love the blue color so will definitely try again next year but will start them a bit earlier. The wind gusts from the storm we had knocked all my vines that were potted right over. At least I didn't lose them.

Scarlet Flax - I started this from seed (also was late doing it). Not alot of blooms but I thought this would look spectacular when covered in blooms. Suppose to be a perennial so we shall see next year if it comes back.

One of my favorite plants is Hyssop. It is so pretty with the tones of blue/purple and it comes back. Just need to keep it under control. I thought I would divide it this year as it is getting to be a monster.

That's it for today. I've spent most of today driving the big tractor cutting the field down. I must say it is an easy job but tomorrow it is back to painting. Need to get those trellis done ;-).

Lovely blooms and especially the daylily blooms. They are all really nice but FANCY FACE is my favorite.

FANCY FACE reminds me of a pansy. I love pansies, they were my favorite flower before I discovered daylilies, so that's a good thing!

Thank you all for the comments. Last year I did a post just on the openings of WORTH IT ALL. it showed the good and bad blooms along with some oddities.This year, so far, it is behaving nicely :-). I have two clumps of this. One in the front and one in the back. The back one is blooming now. Winds have calmed down and are now coming in from the south which is suppose to bring us the hot/humid weather. Just finished my pics this morning and will post on a new thread later today. Thanks everyone for the kind remarks on my seedlings. Judy that last one measures between 5 - 5 1/2". I really like the soft baby pink color contrast to the blue/lavender eye and edge on that seedling. Linda

Thanks all. Chris: If Joshua S. increases enough next year, I can send you some to try out. It reminds me of SELF DETERMINATION but with a bigger bloom, at least here in my garden. The sun is shining this morning but more rain is suppose to come this afternoon. In the meantime, hubby and I are building some trelles for my clematis I got this year. We have never done a project like this before so we are learning as we go along. Table saw, routers, drills, which screws to use..... Well, I posted a bunch more pictures in the comments and they are gone. So I may have duplicates again Kierabel was new this spring, starting out good Jamaican Love is new, thanks Debra! This bloom is fullsize and looks just like I wanted. Still a short scape, but new plants do that for me MexicAN MAGIC Debra, Rainbow Dragon bloomed, a tiny prolif size fan, so I am not surprised the short scape could not hold up the bloom. I do like the bloom, so I have something to look forward to. I do see what you say about the color Parrots of the Carribbean is one I got just before Maryott sold out. It has stayed at the 3 fans I started with, but it does always bloom nicely. Screen Pattern Time Lord started off with 4 blooms. I was going to get rid of this one, but last year it showed off nicely, and seems to be looking pretty good this year Waiting for peace. I have had this several years. the 1st 4 years it remained a single fan, finally got a 2nd one. Now 3 years later it has 4 this spring, but of course only the 2 mature ones bloomed. I really like the form on this one, lots of substance Smoky Mountain Autumn, love the color on this

Your daylilies are pretty--I think I like Cerise Masterpiece best today--it's a lovely color. Heavenly Blue morning glories are a favorite of mine, used to grow them until they spread all over the place, and were taking over. I wish someone could come up with a true blue daylily, but for sure I would never be able to afford to buy one. LOL. Avedon

Canyon Colors is really pretty, and I love Fancy Face. Actually, I like all your blooms here. I've grown the blue flax, but it disappeared. Guess I need to start more, such a nice shade of blue. I love your red though, & bet is will be lovely next year. Your hyssop is really pretty too. All but 1 plant has disappeared, I wonder if they are short lived plants. I was going to get some more plants this year, but of course, no one had any. I'll have to start some from seed I guess.

Nancy: I didn't know they had a Blue Flax so I googled it and will order some seeds this winter. Would love to get a clump of those going around the garden. Seems like most perennials are either red, purple/lavender or yellow. I like having blue tones and some orange too. I love the foliage on the flax as it seems to be feathery.
I've had hyssop for 2 years. Seems always to come back even when I gave it a haircut in July.

FANCY FACE is not one that I find to have alot of buds (alot for me is over 15 per scape) BUT I love the bloom and it will always have a place here. Yes Casey, it reminds me too of a pansy.

Julia, I think you will like the blue flax, as close to a true blue as you can get in a flower I think. Supposed to reseed well, but mine didn't. It lasted about 3 years, I don't know if it just doesn't last long, or quite possible I pulled it out for a weed :)

Thanks Nancy. I really like the color so will definitely get seeds this winter. I've been trying to remember to put a marker in front of any place I've planted perennials so I don't pull them up as weeds. Once you get going with weeding, it is hard to stop LOL.
I also use Cindy's method of using golf tees to mark where I've planted my lilies so I don't try to replant in those spots next year.

I love the monster hyssop! Cerise Beauty is my favorite of the daylilies. Isn't it funny how those daylilies that you think you're going to boot suddenly shape up and perform?
