canning peaches with sugar in jar instead of syrup...

Hello everyone!! I have completely enjoyed reading this forum over the last few months and actually look forward to reading it everyday!! I can 200 lbs. of peaches every year and thought I had read somewhere that it's possible to can them without using the pre-made syrup (that makes everything around STICKY after 200 lbs.) and that you could put the sugar in the jar and cover with boiling water. I use the ultra-light syrup and I'm wondering if anyone has ever canned peaches this way and how much sugar was added?? Thanks so much.
