I love VT Type Alpha. I guess I need some Olallie daylilies. I'm not sure when the seasons really are here, we are off from the rest of the country.

Personally, I don't really care for the really ruffled edges that look like chicken fat.

Yes, those are very nice, and I think you are so right about the later blooming ones, they are just so nice to have around. The bed looks good and I like the way you name the different beds !!! Helps keep track of things, doesn't it?

Actually Olallieland is a bit of a tong twister. I really usually call it Ollieland :-)) But of course thats a silly name.

Its very hot and humid here, especially today. I probably will never get down to that beach this year unless I just drop everything and say the heck with it and go swimming.

Olallieland, I love it Rita. They are all wonderful.

Some very pretty ones.I like DIMPLED CHEEKS the best,I think.I like the color of the BUTTERSCOTCH. It was very hot here today too,and the humidity was horrible.I wasn't feeling good,so I stayed in all day.

So you have Olallie Mack? There is an eight fan clump of it on the auction that has only one bid, and it is for $9. I have bought so much, I don't plan to bidon it.

I do have a very small batch of it I bought last year. It truely is very late as it it not near ready to flower. But I wouldn't mind adding to it so looked at the auction. Can't bid against the high bidder as its one of the regulars on the DG Daylily forum so I will be passing it by.

Its not that we don't bid against each other there, we bid against each other for Westbournes all the time. But in this case I just feel it would be really mean spirited to bid when they are clearly there first and I already have it.

I got my third Westbourne. Westbourne's Sunset Romance to go with Westbourne's Sassfrass Taffy Pull and Westbourne's Naughty Girl. I really wanted each of them, so I am pleased.

I saw that you had bid on it and since no one else was bidding on it, I figgured you got it. I got one last night called Westbourne Peaches Pickled. Its a very orange one. I just must like those orange ones because I have bought a bunch now!

Actually, someone did bid on it fairly late in the bidding. I couldn't monitor it since the bidding was closing as I was driving to work.

I had the high bid, but put in an aggressive bid in an effort to insure that it would remain mine, and it did! I checked when I got to work and found out I had won it. I was so pleased!

I think you will be very pleased when those Westbournes bloom for you. They look pretty in the pictures but the colors and patterns when you see them in real life are just so vibrant. And I am going by ones here that are new. Mary Jane (Meadows) says that they take three years to truely show their stuff. If thats so then they must be increadable as mature plants because I can't believe how pretty those Westbournes are already.

VT TYPE ALPHA is such a nice color. And I agree, some of my favorite daylilies have no fancy frills.

Is that Walker's Low Catmint above the rocks or what? I just bought some and am trying to figure out where to put it.

Your partially correct in that its catmint. That one is Little Titch. It grows much lower than Walkers Low but it also does not flower as much. Walkers Low can make a big plant.

These extra late blooming Olallie daylilies really aren't the fanciest but look when they are blooming. You just don't usually get mid August bloom around here. Makes them look really great to me.

I have been thinking about it today as the Olallie order arrived and I have decided to expand Olallieland. I can't expand it too much as there are things planted all around it. But on the top part of Olallieland is a really big and overgrown Lavender that really looks very weedy looking. If I take that out and chuck it, I can nicely get two more in along the top over by the wall. Then I can put one in front staggered like you do when planing multiple rows of daylilies.

You can just see part of that lavender in the first two top pictures off to the left.

The really late ones I ordered, the ones they say bloom in September, are going in Olallieland. Will just go along with my others there. The 4 I bought that they said bloom late August in VT, I planted as part of the second row in the new daylily row I now have in the front side yard. They are the only things in the second row but it looks good to me.

I am pushing these Olallie lates and very lates for those that want to add late color.
